Message from the Principal
It has been another great week at Westbrook School. Our students were able to enjoy the outdoors with the change in weather this week. Our second grade students began their CogAT testing and construction continues to move right along.
As we look to next week we are excited for two special occasions that will take place on Friday, April 22. We will welcome our Glenview police and a firefighters to the building on Friday to help start our students' day off right with a "high five." Please know there will be many emergency vehicles on property however there is no emergency happening! Thank you to the dedicated police and firefighters of Glenview for making the start of the day special!
The second exciting opportunity for students is our next PTA sponsored event. This event will be an in person assembly. Matt Whilhelm, professional BMX rider and motivational speaker, will perform two shows at Westbrook. A big shout out and thank you to the PTA for providing this exciting show!
Have wonderful three day weekend!
Patrick
Dear Westbrook and Glen Grove Families,
We are so excited to welcome D34 ParentConnect back in person in a big and wonderful way, with Family Connect Night on Tuesday, April 26 from 6:00-7:30pm at Glen Grove! Thank you to The Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation for sponsoring this event.
Family Connect Night is an opportunity for children and adults to reconnect with old friends and make new social connections within their cluster. It’s a particularly great transition opportunity for second graders to attend this fun event at their new school.
There will be crafts, games and an animated short film and discussion facilitated by Beth Irwin, LPC, from Family Service Center. Boxed meals from North Branch will be provided.
Please RSVP to let us know how many members of your household will attend. Interpretation in Spanish, Mongolian and Korean will be offered (but please let us know in advance if you wish to have this service). We will follow up before the event to confirm your attendance and get your family’s dinner order. While the programming is planned for children in grades K-5, older and younger children are welcome. We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to connect!

Class Placement Input
In creating classes, we strive to take into account all that we have already learned regarding the social, emotional, academic and creative aspects of every child. Our goal is to form balanced, heterogeneous classes in which each child can succeed. If you have additional information that you feel is important for us to consider when placing your child in a class for next school year, please share it with me in writing (or email: phoeft@glenview34.org) no later than Friday, April 29th. If your child will not be returning to Westbrook for the 2022-2023 school year because your family is moving or he/she will be enrolling in a private school, please let the front office know as soon as possible via email to mzenzola@glenview34.org and pschurr@glenview34.org.
Your thoughts about your child’s peer relationships and previous school experiences are certainly valued. Consistent with past practice at Westbrook School, however, please know that we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers. If you have any questions about the class placement process, please feel free to reach out!
