This Week

Well, it was certainly a short week! Check out our fun happenings coming up below!

-Ms. Kate Martin

NEW Donors Choose Project!!!

I want to make sure my students have what they need to succeed, so I've created a classroom project request through, an award-winning charity. BOTH 4/5 GT classes will benefit from this project...and many more Avondale GATE students in the years to come.

Donations of any size will help my kids. Right now, any contribution you make to my project will be doubled by Sphero. Your donation will brighten my students' school year, and you'll get heartfelt thank-yous from my class and photos of your gift in action.

Here's my classroom request:

Let's Code It!

To have your donation matched dollar for dollar , just make a contribution on that project page -- donations will be doubled automatically, but only while funding lasts.

If you know anyone who is passionate about education, please pass this along. My students and I greatly appreciate your support.

DDR Update

On Friday we will be presenting the Detroit Dog Rescue with the donations the GT classes have collected. I am so proud of how many donations we were able to gather - the kids did an amazing job getting the word out and sharing about Ms. Scott. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project!

Friday's Special Guest

One of my fellow MAGC board members, Christie McWilliams, had a special visitor the past week, Eunice Sumary. She was visiting all the way from Tanzania! She was able to share a bit about her culture, the education system in Tanzania and answer the student's questions! The students loved the chance to meet someone new and understand what life is like in a completely different country! You can view her presentation below.

We had a FANTASTIC turn out for the 1st Information Night. We have one more on February 7th. Remember, if you are a CURRENT GT school of choice family, you do NOT need to re-apply. Current families are more than welcome to come to the meeting, since it will be held at Meadows and I'm sure you and your child(ren) are interested in seeing the new school! Just keep in mind there will be many improvements over the summer, and there are students using our classrooms this year so it will look slightly different next year.
