NEWS FROM THE HEADS
Did you know that Tuesday 8th March is International Women’s Day.... and this year's campaign theme is Pledge for Parity?
Amongst many things this week has been World Book Week, and Thursday was World Book Day and our vibrant library team, led by Paula Copeman, has been encouraging us to get into the minds of an author. This culminated in a visit from Eleanor Wood, author of My Secret Rock Star Boyfriend, who gave an enlivening assembly on Thursday.

“Take every chance, drop every fear and always reach for the stars!”
This week has been our 3for3 Charity Week. The girls have organised and participated in a number of fundraising activities to raise money for our 3 chosen charities: Rosie’s Rainbow Fund, Thames Valley Hospice and Helen & Douglas House. In Tuesday’s assembly, four Sixth Formers presented their fundraising activity (a fun run on Monday 7th March) to the Girls. It has been wonderful to see the acts of kindness from the girls, many of which have been new and innovative ideas to raise money for those who are suffering.

The children enjoyed their “World Book Day” experience of dressing up in their favourite book character costume and many thanks for the donations which totalled £30.00 and will go to our 3 for 3 charities. The children all have a £1.00 book token for spending in their favourite bookshop.
Nursery classes have been busy creating pictures of their families and some lovely displays have been put up in their rooms.

PTA NEWS
Saturday 19 March - Easter Egg Hunt
We've been made aware that there are a couple of sporting events that clash with our Easter Event, but that some children who are attending these are still keen to enter our Egg Drop and Design a Sweet Competitions. As a result, all entries will be happily received this year, as long as they are in by Friday 11th March. Just to remind you that first prize for the Egg Drop Competition is two tickets to The Chocolate Factory, where you can go along and create your own chocolate treats. The winner of the Design a Sweet Competition will win a giant chocolate Egg.
If you are planning on joining us for the Easter Event on the 19th March then we'd be grateful if you could purchase tickets in advance so we can accurately cater for the day.
As you are all aware, the success of these events is down to the support we get from parents. We are after volunteers on the tea tent, handing out chocolate prizes, running our tombola, setting up and clearing up. If you are able to offer even half an hour of your time then please contact Lynne Peach (lynne@mostly.me.uk) who will add you to the rota.
Our attentions are already turning towards our Summer Fete on 25th June. If you have a business that you would like to advertise in our programme, or you would like to take a stall at this year’s event, then please contact Julie Van Vuuren (jjvanvuuren@yahoo.co.uk).
