What is Hepatitis?

Hepatitis is an STD which causes inflammation of the liver caused by a virus.

How is the Disease Transmitted?

Hepatitis is transferred through blood or bodily fluids such as vaginal or anal secretion.

Symptoms of Hepatitis

  • yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • fever
  • nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite
  • abdominal pain
  • light colored bowel movement
  • dark colored urine

Treatment for Hepatitis

There is no effective cure, but in most cases, teenagers will recover from the STD and become immune to Hepatitis B

Problems if Left Untreated

  • Cirrhosis (permanent scarring of the liver)
  • Liver cancer
  • Liver failure
