Mason Moose Minutes November 19
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
Happy Friday!
This week the read aloud that was shared with our Mason family on Monday was What Does It Mean to Be American, by Rana DiOrio & Elad Yoran. This book highlighted the value in being American, all the wonderful things we have available to us as Americans, and how we honor those who protect and service us! Additionally, it recognizes how we should be grateful for the many blessings we have, including our rights and freedoms. It reminds us to lead by example, show kindness, be smart, creative, proud and humble!
Along with taking much pride to be an American, we want our dear Mason students to take pride in being a Mason Moose! I take much pride in recognizing Ms. Kemmer Weinhaus, our music teacher, who worked so hard to write a Mason school song all on her own! She shared the lyrics with our dear students this week and will continue to do so as well throughout the school year for students to sing! We wanted to share this song with all families for us all to take pride in being a Mason Moose as One Mason, One Family, One Team!
MASON SCHOOL SONG
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE AND WE ARE PROUD!
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE, WE’LL SAY IT OUT LOUD!
WE WILL LEARN, TOGETHER
WE WILL LIFT, EACH OTHER
WE WILL LEAD THE WAY EACH AND EVERY DAY , ‘CUZ
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE AND WE ARE PROUD!
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE, WE’LL SAY IT OUT LOUD!
WE WILL BE...A
FAMILY
WE WILL WORK TOGETHER JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE, ‘CUZ
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE AND WE ARE PROUD!
WE ARE THE MASON MOOSE…(wait) WE’LL SAY IT OUT LOUD!
I want to remind all families that next week is a short week prior to our Thanksgiving break! Kindly remember that students have school on Monday and Tuesday, November 22 & 23, and there is no school from Wednesday-Friday, November 24-26. School will resume on Monday, November 29.
As I often tell our dear students, I believe in them, and I want them to believe in themselves! Thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and partnership in addressing our students' needs. We continue to move forward as One Mason, One Family, One Team! If you need anything in the meantime, please know you can contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or by phone at (313) 432-4404. As always....Teamwork it is! Together we learn, we lead, and we lift!

Mason Green Team - WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE!
Go Green this school year and cut back on lunchroom waste!
What is a Waste free lunch?
A waste-free lunch creates no trash that goes in the landfill.
Here’s some tips to avoid creating waste and show respect for our environment:
Eat everything you are served or save it for another time. Avoid throwing food out.
Use reusable containers/tupperware, rather than throwing out plastic bags. Take home containers and plastics to wash out and reuse.
Use reusable water bottles.
Use reusable lunch carriers, rather than disposable brown paper bags.
Recycle plastic bottles into the designated water bottle recycling receptacle located in lunchroom.

Morning Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
* Students should not be playing at the playground in the morning or on the blacktop. Please kindly remind your student.
* Please DO NOT PARK, nor double park on Charlevoix Rd as this is a drop off area during morning arrival and dismissal times. We want to be proactive about this so that parents are not ticketed for parking there, and students are safe to be dropped off.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
