A Note From Mr. Christ

Dear Paddock Families,


I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend. We had an excellent week at Paddock school, which culminated in an epic sliming of Mr. Christ. If you have not yet seen it, head over to the Stuart R. Paddock Facebook page to see the entire 3 minute video. This year's Fun Run fundraiser was a tremendous success, a lot of fun, and a great way to bring the Paddock community together. A big thank you to all of the Paddock families for collecting donations, the PTA for organizing the event, and the teachers for promoting it.

Halloween

On Friday, October 29th, we are looking forward to bringing back our Halloween parade and classroom parties. The schedule that day will be:


Friday, October 29

  • AM K party - 9:00-9:30
  • Parade - 9:30-10:00
  • All grades party 10:00-11:00
  • PM K parade 12:00-12:30
  • PM K party - 12:30-1:00


Please see the letter below for additional details and information regarding appropriate school costumes. Reach out to your student's classroom teacher with any questions.

Safety Drills

On Friday, October 15th we will be having our first lockdown drill of the school year. House Bill 2400 (The School Safety Drill Act) states:


  • All lockdown drills will be announced to all school personnel and students prior to the commencement of the drill.

  • Schools will provide sufficient information and notification to parents and guardians in advance of any lockdown drill that involves the participation of students.

  • Schools will provide parents and guardians an opportunity to exempt their child for any reason from participating in the walk-through lockdown drill.

  • Schools will provide alternative safety education and instruction related to an active threat or active shooter event to students who do not participate in a walk-through lockdown drill to provide them with essential information, training, and instruction through less sensorial safety training methods.


If you prefer your child does NOT participate in the yearly required lockdown drills, please complete this form. Please submit one form for each of your children you are opting out.


If you have any questions regarding this, please reach out to Mr. Christ or Ms. Walsh.

Masks

Please make sure you are sending at least 1-2 additional clean masks with your child each day. These masks should be well fitting and cover both the student's nose and mouth without the student needing to continually pull the mask up. Having a well fitting mask is imperative to keeping our students safe and limiting close contacts, should a positive case arise. Thank you for help in this.

Recess Zones Eliminated

Since last school year, schools have been implementing a system of recess zones to limit the mixing of students from one class with those in another class. Based on recent changes to COVID guidance, District 15 schools will no longer need to use zones at recess. This change means that students will be able to use the playground, field, and blacktop areas the same as they did prior to COVID.

Box Tops

The General Mills Box Tops program has officially moved to digital submissions (replacing paper Box Tops). Please click on the flyer and follow the directions on how to submit Box Tops that earn your student's classroom money!

District 15 Job Fairs

District 15 will be hosting job fairs looking for the following positions:

  • Bus Drivers - no experience necessary; paid training; free benefits (employee only); pension; paid holidays
  • Substitute Teachers and Substitute Program Assistants - set your own schedule!
  • Full time Program Assistants
  • Office and Library Clericals
  • Maintenance/Laborers/Custodians
  • And more!


Job fairs will be held on:

  • Monday, November 1, 2021
  • Monday, December 13, 2021
  • Monday, January 24, 2022
  • Monday, March 7, 2022

Parent Nights 2021-2022

District 15 is excited to be partnering with local agencies to present information on topics for parents, guardians, families and community members. Mark your calendars and join us for these free, virtual workshops! Please see the Parent Nights Flyer for additional information.

PTA Volunteer Opportunities

Please review the available PTA volunteer opportunities and sign up for as many as you’re interested in helping with. The committee chair in charge of the event will contact you. The events are subject to change depending on District COVID guidelines.

Code Ninjas

Please see the attached flyer for the Code Ninjas program. The Paddock PTA will receive $25 for first month a student is signed up for the Create Program and another $25 dollar for second month if a student chooses to continue.

Health Office

The Paddock Health Office is collecting the required Health, Dental, and Vision forms for students. The Health form is required for students entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth grade, and those who are new to the school. The Health exam form, completed and signed by a licensed healthcare provider, must be dated within one year prior to the first day of school. The Health forms are due on October 15th to the Paddock Health Office. Please make sure you've completed the parent portion of this form as well. If your child has a Health Care plan for asthma or an allergy OR has medication they need to take at school, please make sure you read the linked documents and get in contact with Mrs. Pool, our Paddock nurse. You can reach her at 847-963-5802 or poolk@ccsd15.net.

Paddock Spirit Wear

Fridays will be Panther Spirit day at Paddock. To show school spirit, every Friday we encourage students to wear blue, yellow, or their favorite Paddock shirt. Additional Paddock Spirit Wear is available for sale at http://www.stuartpaddockspiritwear.com/. I can't wait to see everyone's school spirit!

Join The Paddock PTA!!

Paddock's PTA is an organization of families and teachers working together to provide an enriching learning environment for our students and a welcoming community for our families. Your PTA membership is used to host school activities, student programs, and school assemblies. It helps our families connect with each other, know what’s happening at Paddock, give parents opportunities to volunteer and provide support to our teachers. The more members our PTA has, the more good we can do.
