HOW SWEATSHOPS AFFECT GLOBALIZATION
-Usually the parents would be in dept and until their dept is paid off their children will be taken to work.
-85-90% of the workers are women, the employers would force them to take birth control, and routine pregnancy tests to prevent having to support them through maternity leave and provide them with proper health benefits.
-If they were to increase the pay of their worker the cost of the product would increase by 1.8%, but study shows that people would rather pay and 15% more for the product knowing that it was made in a cruelty free environment.
-More than 11,000 are known to be un the US. In 2000 they al were all breaking the overtime and the minimum wage law, and 16,000 broke the health and safety conditions.
Children are being sold to sweatshops.
Women are working hard to provide for their family so would go to these factories.
Through tight working conditions the workers still manage to work.
WHY ARE SWEATSHOPS HAPPENING?
HOW ARE SWEATSHOPS RELATED TO GLOBALIZATION?
Sweatshops can also be explained through the dependancy theory because the developing countries depend on the developed countries since the give them jobs. Even though they exploit their people, it is their only way for economic growth so they allow it to happen.
WHAT ISSUE ARE SWEATSHOPS CAUSING?
Sweatshops are also contributing to global warming because these factories are not disposing the scraps properly, since it takes less time they would rather throw it out in the local dump yard.
