News from your Librarian -
May 2 Extra books will be checked out to 3rd and 4th grade students this week in preparation for STAAR
May 9 & 10 Library Closed for STAAR
May 11,12, & 13 I will be sending out a revised schedule for when your class should come this week for their library time so I can get everyone fit in. It just so happens that this is also the last week to bring your class to the library for their weekly scheduled time.
May 13 Last day for students to check out books.
May 17 Library is closed for Instructional Rounds. Karen will also be out of the building that day at a district librarian meeting. There will not be a substitute in the library, so please do not send kids.
May 18 Mrs. Ever’s from the Watauga Public Library comes to speak about the summer reading program and activities that will be offered. This will happen in the auditorium. 4th is out this day at Camp Carter. I will find a time to fill the students in on what Mrs. Evers shares.
May 18,19, & 20, from 7:30-3:15 daily, Scholastic BOGO Book Fair (Buy one book, get one book of equal or lesser value free). It also includes all of the posters and toy-like things that they sell. When adding this information to your grade level newsletters, please add that all library book fines for lost and damaged books, must be taken care of before shopping at the Book Fair. I realize that student books are not officially due until the 20th, but I’m referring to students I keep begging and the parents I have emailed about returning or paying for a book(s).
May 20 All student iPads that are checked out need to be returned by the end of today and will be unavailable the rest of the year. I’m not sure yet about teacher iPads. All student books are due. Students can definitely turn them in early as well!
May 27 All books that are not professional resources that have been checked out by faculty members need to be returned. You can definitely turn them in early, too!
May 23 Reading Bingo Party at 9:30am in the auditorium
