Cold Weather As we approach colder weather, make sure you dress your child appropriately when they come to school as they will be outside daily for recess. This includes; hat, mittens, scarf, snow pants, jacket, and boots. Please let me know if you are in need of any of these items. | Fiction vs Non-Fiction We also spent some time this week talking about the differences between a fiction vs non-fiction story. We read books on apples, trees, etc and figured out if they were fiction or non-fiction. | Owl Babies We read the book "Owl Babies" and began fun art project by painting the baby owls who thought they lost their mother. The students really liked the story. |

What did we learn this week?
Writing: I continued modeling the the writing process. (Think, Draw, Say and Test, Clap and Count, Write) We are learning that a sentence has a "who" and "did what," We are also learning about capital letters at beginning of sentences and a period at the end of a sentence.
Phonics:. This week we continued to practice our "zoo friends" favorite sounds and letters. We chanted the "abc chart" and continued to practice rhyming words. We also began to listen for beginning and ending sounds in words.
Math: We continued working with our numbers 0-5 and recognizing them in different ways. We also continued our number writing as well.
