Transform Blah into Wahhhh!
Show a movie clip, but with words. "Show - Don't Tell."
Part A -- Find a picture online of a favorite movie scene which has a Pancasilla theme to it.
After you have located your picture, list at least ten complete sentences that capture the mood of the scene.
Try to answer the questions:
Try to answer the questions:
- What exactly...
- Why exactly...
- Where exactly...
- When exactly...
- How exactly...
- What caused....to happen...
- Smells, sounds, feeling in the air, etc. (but only ones that help 'paint the picture')
- Similies and metaphores that compare
Part B -- Write about how your movie scene expresses Pancasilla values.
Part C -- Now write a new paragraph (beginning with a topic sentence) using your sentences from Part A. Combine and transform your sentences so that they successfully "show" rather than "tell."
Write expressive narrative describing the scene.
Before showing the class your pictures, you will read your narrative outloud.
The audience will determine if your narrative "paints the picture" better than the picture. If not, you must rewrite until it successfully 'paints a descriptive picture.'
