What's New This Week?

Language Arts

This week's main story selection is a realistic fiction text titled Luke Goes to Bat. The Essential Question this week is "What words show the order of events in a story?" Our skills this week focus on sequence of events, subject-verb agreement, antonyms, and the long i sound spelled with i, igh, ie, y.


In writing we have just completed our Opinion papers, and we will begin learning about Fictional Narrative writing..

Year Book Orders - It’s time to order the 2015-2016 Rolling Hills Yearbook! The yearbook will be distributed before the end of the year and it will contain the professional portraits of every student in Rolling Hills. We also try to picture every sixth grade student in candid photos. Faculty, administration, events and activities will also be included. Yearbook orders will be taken online only at RHHSA.ORG. Click on the store tab and place your order! The cost is $25. Order deadline is February 5, 2016! Thank you to all families who already placed their order at the beginning of the year. Reminders

Valentine's Day - A letter about our Valentine's Day celebration on Thursday, February 11th went home last week. We are asking that your child decorate either a bag or box to use as a mailbox for Valentine cards from their classmates. If you choose to send in cards, please ensure your child has one for every child in their class and please do not attach any candy or food. Thank you!

Parent’s Night Out - Join us for a great night of comedy fun on March 12th at 8:30 p.m. at the Comedy Cabaret. Enjoy a fun night out and raise funds for our school! Please see the flyer HERE.

Science Fair - This year’s Science Fair will be March 31st! It is always a great night and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful projects.

Family Math Night - Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Family Math Night for Grades 1-4 for those families that have registered in advance. This evening will include a variety of fun and interesting math games that you can participate in with your child. Please complete and hand in the form found HERE.

Printed Family Directories - If you did not purchase a printed copy of the directory at the beginning of the year, there are still a few copies available. Printed directories are a great way to retain information from year to year and access it quickly. They are $5 each and only available to Home & School Members. Please contact Carolyn Chiarello at cmh4778@aol.com if you would like a copy.

Field Trip - Our Field Trip will be on May 19 and we will visit the Adventure Aquarium. Please remember to send in the permission slip, medical form and the $17.00 cash payment. If you want to be a chaperone on our trip, you must have your clearances at the administration building before May 19th. Unforunately, you cannot be a chaperone unless you have your clearances submitted.
