February 2021

From the Desk of Mrs. Gandy - Superintendent

A Message to Our Wildcat Families

Dear Families,

We are thrilled to inform you that Lovington Schools has received approval from the New Mexico Department of Public Education to reopen on February 8, 2021, in the Hybrid Model. Our principals have been organizing A and B cohorts for those students who have expressed the desire to return to an in-person learning environment. Our entire team has been working to ensure safety measures are in place, visible to students and staff and communicated to our stakeholders.

I cannot thank you enough for the educational role you have taken on since March, 2020. These are unprecedented times and our community has continued to soar because of the partnerships between you, our teachers and our leaders. Additionally, I appreciate the patience and grace you have exhibited as we have navigated a new way of teaching and learning.

Below you will find some important information regarding safety protocols and lunches.

Water Bottles

Reusable or disposable water bottles are encouraged since access to drinking fountains is prohibited.

Social Distancing

Each building has designated markings to allow students and staff to visualize necessary 6ft social distancing while walking down hallways, outside pickup/dropoff areas and in classrooms. Classroom desks have been marked in a variety of ways to indicate which desks will be used to maintain this distance.

Handwashing and Sanitizing

Signage encouraging handwashing and sanitizing posted throughout buildings. Hand sanitizer is provided for each classroom.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students at no charge. Students choosing to bring their own lunch from home must arrive at school with their lunch. For safety reasons, no outside delivery of food will be allowed. Parents may not drop off lunches for delivery to children within the school day. LHS will have closed campus for lunch. Students that are checked out during the day may not return until their next in-person, scheduled day. Safety first!
