Weekly Highlights

  • 3/24/16----PTA Spring Fling in the GYM--- TEACHERS PTA is asking for donations of Baskets to raffle off at the Spring Fling
  • Women's Month Assembly CANCELED for the MONTH of MARCH!
  • We are using an individual student bar code system for Lunch. Please remind students to listen to their lunch teachers to support a smooth lunch time.
  • All teachers, please encourage your parents to fill out the PARENT SURVEY this week.
  • Fridays @ 9am: Student binders should be updated with students work every Friday. You should have a schedule of students to meet with each Friday, to go over student work, data and goals. .
  • Double Math blocks CONTINUED-- for 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade
  • Principal's Book of the Month should be completed and posted in classes.
  • Bulletin Boards are due 3/28 (inside and outside)


Announcements:

  • Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident during guided instructional periods.
  • For the safety of all students: All children must be ESCORTED at all times and have a pass in hand-- To the bathroom, lunch, prep classes, etc.
  • Teachers please review Chancellors Regulation 420 and 421.
  • ALL Classroom Teachers MUST have their OWN DAILY lesson plans for ALL Content areas: Math, ELA, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block, Science, Social Studies.
  • ALL enrichment teachers MUST have lesson plans for each class they service. All other support staff MUST have lesson plans for students they service. This is part of Danielson Standard 1e- Designing Coherent Instruction
  • Monday PD's--- ALL Teachers to meet in the Library from 2:20-3:40pm
  • Monday PD's--- ALL Paraprofessionals to meet in the Computer lab 423 from 2:20-3:40pm

1. Guided Instruction in ELA and Math 2. Analyze Data to Drive Instruction

3. Incorporate technology in instruction


Important Reminders:

  • Morning line up @ 8:00 a.m. Auditorium All staff (K-5 teachers, ESL, Speech and Language, SETTS, Coaches--- to report to the Auditorium)
  • Period 7 ends at 2:10pm
  • End of day dismissal @ 2:10 p.m.- 2:20pm --- All staff (K-5 teachers, ESL, Speech and Language, SETTS, Coaches--- to report to the Auditorium/Little Yard)

  • 9am Grades 3-5 : Test Readiness Block: Focus: Reading Comprehension (see email and google docs)
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-2: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.


Tuesday 3/22--- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading/ Test Readiness, Writing, Science

  • 9am Grades 3-5 :Test Readiness Block: Focus: Reading Comprehension (see email and google docs)
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-2: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.
  • Teacher Inquiry & Parent Engagement---- 3:00pm - 3:35pm Library Grades K-2 Grading grades 3-5 Benchmark Spring Assessments--- Parent Engagement 2:20-3:00pm: Grade K-2 Please follow your planned parent engagement document. Grades 3-5: Parent Testing Meeting in rooms: Grade 3: 3-428/ Grade 4:4-413/ Grade 5: 5-405

Thursday 3/24- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading/ Test Readiness, 2nd Math, Social Studies

  • Explorers 1, Explorers 2, and READ is CANCELED. NO PS 107X After school
  • PTA Spring Fling in the GYM --- Schedule TBD
  • 9am Grades 3-5: Test Readiness Block: Focus: Reading Comprehension (see email and google docs)
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-2: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.
  • 2nd Math BlocK: Grades K-2: Students should engage in center math activities and small group reteach lessons that support areas identified by data as areas of weakness. NO WHOLE GROUP RETEACHING.
  • 2nd Math Block: Grades 3-5: Students should be working on solving word problems in their math notebooks using CUBES. Students should solve 3 problems during a 40 min block. 10-15min should be used to review 1 of the problems. Reviewing is crucial for students understanding and misunderstandings to be discussed.


Friday 3/25- NO SCHOOL--- GOOD FRIDAY


Ongoing Reminders:

  • All STAFF must be at their Morning post at 8:00 am and Dismissal post at 2:10 pm.
  • Period 7 ends at 2:10 pm ---- Dismissal post is from 2:10pm - 2:20pm
  • Book Baggies: All students should have book baggies with just right books: 5 books max levels A-K / 3 books max levels L-Z--- Check students books for accuracy. Students should be shopping for books weekly and MUST keep a weekly reading log.
  • As you greet our rockets this week please remember to greet our learners with kindness, organized, colorful, learning environments and with honest preparation for becoming literate, mathematicians, scientists, historians, critical thinkers willing and able to solve world problems, in other words PLAN, meaningful, productive interactive, and engaging lessons
