What's Happening in the Fall?

I am sure that you are asking yourselves what is happening in the fall? What will school look like in the fall? Will school buildings be open? Will students be learning remotely? If we go back to school, will kids have to wear masks? When will we know what is happening? These are all great questions and I wish we had all the answers for you but we don't.

Here are the things that I can tell you. District leadership and building administration have been working on gathering all of the information we will need to start making plans for the fall. We are meeting weekly and will continue to meet throughout the summer with teacher leaders to formulate the best plan for our students and staff. Superintendent Rick Colpitts is hopeful to have this plan to families by August 1st.

As we make these decisions about what school will look like in the fall, we will also be reaching out to families to gather information from you. We will be reviewing the guidance from the CDC, State government leaders, and the Maine Department of Education. There are other countries that have reopened schools and we will also look to their data to see what we can learn for our own reopening.

This is an unsettling time and I know that the unknown of what school will be in the fall is stressful for our students and their families. We will do our very best to get you all the information you want and need as soon as we have it.
