Robert Hunter Report
Oct. 3, 2021
Oct. 3, 2021
Dear Robert Hunter families,
We did it - September is in the books! Students have been acclimating to being in school full day and they are doing a great job. Our focus has been on relationship and community building, and we love seeing the positive classroom communities that are developing throughout the school.
Thank you to everyone who attended our first PTO meeting - what a great turnout! We are so grateful for the tremendous family support that we have in our community.
A highlight of this past week was coming together for our first whole school assembly outside on the blacktop. This was the first time in quite a while that we have been able to be ALL TOGETHER in person, and it was very special. We will do this every month - come together as a whole school community to celebrate and learn together. Each month’s assembly will have a different social-emotional learning focus. The best part about our assemblies is that they are led by students. This month, students in Ms.Cuzzola/Mrs. Hadzimichalis’ and Mrs. Johnson’s classes did an amazing job leading our assembly! They taught RH students about how to have a growth mindset this year and persevere through challenges. All students will have an opportunity to help lead an assembly this year if they would like to do so.
Our 4th grade service corp students have started their jobs around our school community - monitoring hallways and buses, helping younger students, and recording the daily news. 4th grade classes will rotate service corp jobs throughout the year.
We are celebrating the Week of Respect this upcoming week. Please see information below about special spirit days during this special week. We also look forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night this week - please review the information below and note that Music will be held on a separate night.

Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be held on Oct. 7th in person at Robert Hunter. We will be using the same schedule HERE. Once again, we want to remind families that everyone must be masked to enter the building, and only one family member is permitted per child. Please note that Oct. 7th will NOT be an early dismissal. We will have our regular 3:35 dismissal on this day.
On Wednesday, October 6th, Ms. Alexanderson will host her Back to School Night via zoom. Please stop in via zoom to visit Ms. Alexanderson anytime from 6:30-8:30pm to learn about the curriculum, ask questions, and meet her! Please note, Ms. Alexanderson will not be at our in person Back to School Night being held at Robert Hunter on October 7.

Picture Day was a great success! If your child was absent, we will have a make-up day on Oct. 25th. Only individual pictures will be taken this year, but class composite pictures will be created digitally. If you registered, you will receive information about ordering online. All children will have their pictures included in the yearbook. Again, if you do not want your child’s picture included in the yearbook, please let us know.
The Robert Hunter Walkathon will be held this Friday, Oct. 8th! Thank you to the PTO Walkathon committee for organizing this event! The students always have a great time walking on the blacktop with fun music and visits from Robbie Raccoon! This year’s theme - “Cool to be Kind” celebrates the Week of Respect. The district’s spirit day activity on Friday is to "show your school spirit." At Robert Hunter, students should show their school spirit by wearing tie-dye and bright colors on Friday! Students will also be creating class posters to share at the Walkathon that represent how they show kindness and respect.
See the PTO flyer HERE for pledge collection information and details about fundraising goals for our school.
We are finalizing details regarding our Halloween celebration at RH. As of now, we are planning for a traditional outdoor parade and inviting families to watch on the blacktop. This will take place in the morning of Oct. 29th. More details to follow. If it rains, we would need to move our parade indoors without family viewing. Classrooms will also be having celebrations. Class parents that are assisting must connect with their teachers prior to the event for approved activities and permission into the building. If you would prefer that your child not participate in Halloween activities, please email your child’s teacher, so that we can plan alternate activities.
Week of Respect
We are looking forward to celebrating the Week of Respect at Robert Hunter from Oct. 4-8. Mrs. Fontanez, our school counselor, will be visiting classrooms with lessons focused on the theme of this week - "Together - We Celebrate Uniqueness."
Please see the letter HERE to learn more about our celebration of the Week of Respect.
