School Spotlight- SVE Diversity Team
This week, I'd like to take the opportunity to shine a light on our student Diversity Team. This is a small group of students that range from fourth to sixth grades and led by SVE teachers- Mrs. April Paul, Ms. Kelly Dahl, and Mrs. Christen Pruett. These students are exploring the meaning of 'diversity' and how to spread that message school-wide. They are excited to be working on their next project which includes our student team members visiting classrooms and leading diversity activities, writing and reading messages about diversity and acceptance over morning announcements, and creating diversity segments for our SVE Channel 18 Broadcast. Take a look at the gallery below to see some of what this amazing team has been working on.
Mrs. Rachel Flood
Learning about other cultures from Mrs. Maria Hanes, our ELL teacher.
Students shared words around their name that they identify with.
Students also included thoughts about why they feel diversity is important.
The team then visited one another's posters and left responses.
In a group, each member shared a meaningful response that someone left on their poster.
The team learned so much about one another and created some goals for how to spread their message to everyone in the school.
