3A: A Week at a Glance

week ending September 4, 2015

A Note From Mrs. Adams

We had a great first week! This blog captures some of the fun times we had during week 1 of school. It can be used as a great communication tool between you and your child! Enjoy looking through the MANY pictures and fun videos!

Just a few reminders:

Treasure Box: If you have any items you would like to donate to our treasure box, it is used throughout the year, and we greatly appreciate any donations. Non-food items can be brought at any point during the school year, as it is always fun to add to our weekly treasure box!

Scholastic Book Order: If you'd like to order Scholastic books, our class activation code is: LFVF9. Visit www.scholastic.com/readingclub to place orders anytime during the school year. Each time an order is placed with our code, our class receives free books! So keep the orders coming!

Birthday Treats: If your child would like to bring a birthday treat on or near their birthday, I have two requests. One is that you notify me ahead of time with a date you would like to bring them. This allows for our students with allergies to come prepared with their own special treat. Also, please keep in mind that we are a nut-free classroom. So please bring only treats that are nut-free!

Other Class Requests: Things we could use in the class are tissues, hand sanitizer, and liquid soap. Thank you for your donation!

eBoard: Our eBoard is a great place to visit for our class schedule, fun educational links, our updated spelling lists, our nightly homework assignments, links to all of our "S'more Blogs" and so much more. dadams.haddonfield.site.eboard.com

App Happy

Pic Collage App

We used a fun app to create a few collages where we filled out some information about ourselves. Below are two of the fun collages that we created. Our Favorite Subjects and How We Learn Best.

iPad Pic Collage

We created our own Back to School picture frame. Watch the video below to see what we created as a great keepsake!

After opening the link, click on the button that says "Present" in the top right corner. Then click on each slide to look through it!

Getting to know you game...

On the first day, we played a game called Scoot, which allows for movement and a chance to get to know one another. We moved to each desk and answered the question that was posted on each. Then we talked about our answers and found things we had in common with one another. Scooting around the room was fun.

Below are some pictures from our Scoot activity.

No David! Class Rules

After creating our class rules together, we read the story No David! We then chose our favorite rule, wrote it down, and created our own David. They are hanging on the wall of our classroom for you to see (and also below in some pictures).

Look behind us to see our David creations!

QR Code Scavenger Hunt

We used a QR reader to find new items in our classroom. Each QR led us to a new location to help us learn about where we keep certain things in our room. It was a fun way to get familiar with our new room.

Awesome Adjectives

We wrote awesome adjectives about ourselves and then took cute pictures in our face frame! See below for pictures and an iMovie.

Garden Visit!

Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping make our first garden trip a successful one! We got to taste vegetables that are grown in our garden, water plants, and go on a scavenger hunt to find what's growing in our amazing Lizzy garden!
