CSHS Weekly Bulletin
May 7-13, 2018
You Are Appreciated!
Dear Cougar Family,
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and the admin team has planned a treat for you each day of the week, so check your box every day and be on the lookout for emails from us regarding the things that don't fit in teacher boxes!
Rather than pontificating myself, I'd like for you all to take a few minutes this week to see what our students who were selected to be part of the 2018 CSISD Hall of Fame had to say about the educators who they honored. Each student wrote an essay about his or her honored educator, and reading these essays reminds me of why we entered this profession in the first place. If you can read these without getting teary-eyed, you are much tougher than I!
May you all have a wonderful week! Know that you are loved and appreciated by your admin staff (and students...and their parents)!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!

Opportunities to Work with Student Organizations Next School Year
The CSHS Leo Club is looking for a new sponsor (after 6 years, Casey Akin is stepping away from this club to focus more on science-related clubs and teams) and she would love to speak to any of you who might be interested in sponsoring these fantastic kiddos. The Leo Club is a service organization that is the junior branch of Lions International and we have been a part of: food and toy drives each year, Keep Brazos Beautiful, CSHS sparkle crew, work on other campuses with school fairs and athletic events, and community events through our sponsoring Lions club.
Student Council
Mindi Cameron and April Todd are looking for a third sponsor to work with Student Council next year. Student Council is a service organization that also puts on school dances and meets weekly. (Being a StuCo sponsor was one of the best leadership opportunities I had as a teacher--Parkerson) Please email them if you have any questions about the roles/responsibilities of this position.
Please email Parkerson if you are interested in either of these positions.
ProEthica Survey for CSISD
Dear CSISD Teachers and Administrators,
This year's ProEthica training was the first of a three-year commitment our district has made to ethics training. As we look at the impact of the training this year, we would like to ask you to complete the survey below (just take the one for your assigned area of responsibility this year).
This data is very important to us. Though your name and email is asked for in the survey, our district will not see any responses tied to your information, so please feel free to be honest.
With testing coming up, we know your time is limited. You are welcome to take a few minutes to knock this out ASAP, which we would appreciate. At the latest, we ask that you please take the time to complete the survey by May 18th.
Thank you!

Spring Final Exam Schedule
Spring is in the Air!
Please remember that our common expectations are the key part of creating an environment at CSHS in which students can strive for success. Take a moment to make sure you are helping communicate these common expectations to our students (and to your sub via your sub notes):
1) IDs: Students must wear them from when they enter the building to when they exit after school.
2) Tardies: Please do not let students in without a pass after the tardy bell.
3) Hall Passes: When a student leaves your classroom, he/she needs either a bathroom pass that clearly indicates the student is from your classroom and has permission to use the restroom nearest your room OR a blue hall pass that is completely filled out. More hall passes are available in the attendance office.
4) Hall Duty: Students should be met by lots of smiling faces as they make their way to the next class.
5) Dress Code: Holes in jeans (above the fingertips for both boys and girls), short shorts, leggings without a fingertip-length shirt, and hats are the most consistent dress code violations that administrators are seeing. Please check students as they enter your classroom. Often, we do not see a student out of dress code until lunch, which means they've gone by at least 4 teachers before we see them.
