Message from Mrs. Morgan:
Thank you for another wonderful and productive school year. I can’t thank everyone enough for your endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organizing, donating, and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school. Special thanks to our PTO who went above and beyond the call of duty!
Sharon Students: Thank you for all your hard work throughout the school year. I am so honored to be your principal; you make me proud to be a Sharon Elementary Jaguar. I am grateful for your joy and amazing talents. Best wishes to our graduating fifth graders, whom I will miss greatly—please come back and visit. Everyone have a safe and happy summer break.
EOG Parent Notification:
Students enrolled in grades 3-8 in the Walton County School District will take the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade (EOG) Assessment. The EOG is designed to measure the knowledge and skills taught in Georgia classrooms. Students will be assessed on how well they have learned Georgia’s content standards for their grades. Results from the tests will be provided to schools and parents. Testing will take place in the mornings on the following schedule for elementary schools:
Tuesday, May 10
English/Language Arts, Section 1
Wednesday, May 11
English/Language Arts, Sections 2 & 3
Thursday, May 12
Friday, May 13
Science (Grade 5 Only)
As with any assessment, we ask that you talk to your child about giving their best efforts on the tests. Students can perform best when they arrive at school on time, calm, rested, and have eaten breakfast.

Summer Reading Challenge
Did you know that research shows that in elementary-age kids, the summer months can UNDO months of learning from the school year?! This is called the “summer slide.” In fact, it can be as much as three months of learning that is lost! That is 1/3 of a school year. In order to help our students avoid the "summer slide," we are continuing our Summer 2022 Reading Challenge with the goal of students reading every day this summer.
Students who meet the reading challenge requirements will be rewarded with an invitation-only Bingo Party during the school day. PTO will be providing treats and prizes!
Rising Kindergarten-2nd Graders: Must read at least 15 quality picture books and/or chapter books. Half of these books should be on the student's reading level.
Rising 3rd-5th Graders: Must read at least two chapter books. Books should be on the student's reading level.
Students must return the reading log with a parent's signature to their homeroom teacher by Monday, August 8, 2022.
Safety Patrol 22-23 School Year
Safety Patrol Program
We will be partnering with the University of Georgia’s JW Fanning Institute for Leadership Development to provide leadership education and training. The JW Fanning Institute will provide instructors who will bring leadership instruction and courses to our safety patrols as they begin their exciting new jobs as upper grade role models for younger students at SES. Some of our new patrols have waited years to be a patrol as a fifth grade student. You or your own children might have even been safety patrols in the past.
We are seeking $250 sponsorships to offset the cost of our contract price for our sessions. Sponsorships will also help provide snacks during our meetings. In appreciation for your support and sponsorship, your name and/or company logo will be included on our safety patrol apparel. Checks can be made payable to Sharon Elementary School and mailed to 2700 White Road, Loganville, GA 30052. (All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law.) You can email either one of us if you are interested.
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports)
The FINAL ROAR party for the year is coming up! This will be the biggest one yet! Students who have earned at least 140 points will participate in a Splash Blast (WATER PARTY)! There will be water slides, dunk your teachers and administrators for $1.00 (all proceeds will go towards PBIS), and a ton of fun! Hope to see you there!
The PTO will be celebrating SES students and staff the month of May! We will host Teacher Appreciation Week each day May 2nd-6th to celebrate our "Nacho Average" Teachers. We will also celebrate our staff with Milestone Munchies during our upcoming milestone testing. We will celebrate with our students on Field Day with inflatables May17th - May 19th. We also cannot wait to recognize our 5th Graduates at the end of month. Follow the PTO Facebook page for upcoming details.
