Hope Focus: Education and Career
When you envision yourself in a life where you are doing things that are good for yourself and those around you, you are growing hope! When you have hope, you can do anything.
Kids at Hope sees four places in life where you can grow hope. For the month of October, we will venture to the time travel destination of Education and Career.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
That is the age-old question. Children have been asked this for many years and often the answers are something like firefighter, basketball player, teacher, or doctor. While those are all highly valuable careers, there are so many more choices! And, it's entirely possible to have more than one career in your lifetime. No career choice is set in stone.
With that said, whichever career (or careers) you choose, you must be prepared. Having the right knowledge and skills for the job will all but ensure great success. Just like there is an abundant amount of career options, there is not one path for education. Different careers require different training. When you know the direction you want to go, you'll know how to get there.
Speaking of the direction you want to go, how do you know what you want to be when you grow up? For some, this question comes easy. For most, it takes more consideration. When choosing a career path to follow, think about this:
- What's important to you?
- What do you enjoy doing for fun?
- What are you talented at?
- What kind of message do you want to send out to the world?
How you answer these questions will help you choose a career that fits you best. A big part of feeling successful is being happy with the career you have. When you are doing something that matters to you, that you enjoy, and that reflects who you are and what you believe in, you are living a life of hope! And you can't help but pass that hope to others.

CALLING ALL KIDS AT HOPE!
If you are a student at Christensen Elementary, you have the chance to be featured in this newsletter! "Spotlight on Hope" is a student piece where we hear from students about hope-- what it means to you, where you see it, and what you do to have it. You can submit an art piece, writing piece, or video. Students can submit from their Canvas course, "SEL with Mrs. Roppo," by clicking the "Kids at Hope" button on the home page.
Looking forward to your ideas on hope!
Kids at Hope Have Strong Character!
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
Have you shown forgiveness by:
- being patient with and kind to others when they are rude or unpleasant?
- showing compassion towards others when they make mistakes?
using your own mistakes as opportunities to learn and do better?
choosing not to react in anger when someone hurts you?
letting go of the wrongs people have committed against you?
Which one of these will you work on to do better?
