PTA membership update:
We need YOU!!!
Our goal is to have at least 100% of the total memberships that we had last year.
We are in need of 11 more members to achieve this goal. https://www.txpta.org/
Did you know that by signing up for a PTA membership you can recieve discounts around the metroplex at places such as: Great Wolf Lodge, Costco, Hotels.com, even discounts on Texas Ranger baseball tickets!! SO COOL!!! https://www.txpta.org/member-perks
By joining PTA, you are not obligated to volunteer or host any parties, BUT we could always use extra hands and smiles here at BES!! Your $8 membership fee goes towards ensuring that our Birmingham Bears have the tools and resources they need to be successful everyday!!

A Message from our Assistant Principal.......
Happy Friday! I hope that everyone enjoyed a week with minimal rain. :)
I am so impressed with our percentages for attendance. Thank you all for getting the Bears to school every day. We know that attendance is a crucial piece to their success. Another piece that helps students be successful in school is being punctual to school. We are still experiencing a high number of tardies each day. Please help your student by getting them to school before 7:30. Remember that three tardies will be calculated as an absence. Our teachers are ready to begin instruction at 7:30 so it is crucial for our students to be on time. Thank you.
Here are our attendance percentages by grade level:
Kindergarten – Mrs. Perrin at 99%
1st Grade – Mrs. Childers and Ms. Kline are tied at 98.93%
2nd Grade – Ms. Gerbig 99.04%
3rd Grade – Mrs. Hough at 99.24%
4th Grade – Ms. Foster 98.18%
One class from each grade level with the highest percentage, will get a popcorn party with the principals next Friday afternoon! Let's finish strong.
Have a great weekend!
BEARy best wishes...

A Message from our School Counselor......
What a great first week for our canned food drive!! We already have over 450 items!! Great job bears!! Our goal is to collect 2,000 items. This will feed approximately 30 families for a week. We can do it!!!
Though all food items are greatly appreciated and accepted, when thinking about donating, please see the attached flyer with the level of need for certain items. The Christian Care Center is in the most need of the following: canned fruit, canned soup, dry cereal, and jellies/jams. As of last week they were completely out of soup, which is one of the most needed items due to it being a complete meal for one person.
For each of the most needed items brought in, students will receive 5 Bear Bucks!! For all other items, Bears will receive 1 Bear Buck. I've been giving out a lot of 5's!!!!
Don't forget that Safety Patrol starts next week! My Safety Patrol students, please refer to your schedule. Red Group will start us out!
Have a great weekend!
Bear love,
Mrs. Ray
A Message from Nurse Abby.....
Happy Fall Bears!
It’s beginning to look a lot like flu (and any other illness) season. Please be aware of our district policy on illness listed below:
Do not send your child to school if they are ill with:
Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, vomit and diarrhea, painful muscle spasms and stiffness of head, neck, and jaw, undetermined rash over any part of the body, undiagnosed scaly patches on the body or scalp.
Must be fever, vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of suppressing medications before returning to school.
Please remember to send a refillable water bottle to school with your child, and don’t forget your flu shot!
Stay Healthy,
Nurse Abby
