Otho E. Stuart Middle School

Welcome to the 20-21 School Year!

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our Stuart community for their amazing support to get us started in the right way. Every single one of our Raptors came to school at the expected time. Continuing to do this will help us keep our Raptors safe as it minimizes mixing groups.Thank you!

Purpose...this is the word that continues to guide each of our actions. Our purpose is never clear until we see our students walk through our doors for the first time after not having seen them for so long. This year has been particularly special. As our students arrived, I felt the excitement and the cheers running through our hallways. Our staff could not contain themselves. Our Raptors arrived...smiling through their eyes...wondering what this year is going to be like. Adults doing everything they could to welcome our Raptors in the best possible way; trying extra hard to smile and cheer them on to make sure they have no doubt that they matter...that they are cared for. How we interact with our Raptors has changed...how we go about teaching and learning has changed..how we feel about why we do what we do (our purpose) has not changed a bit. We are still here ready to welcome our Raptors to the 20-21 school year. Through the masks...through the restrictions...through the challenges...through the distance...here we are ready to provide them structure, support, stability, expectations, learning, relationship, love, values. Here we are ready to give them hope.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of educating your children. I assure you that we are giving it all to make sure we return them back to you every day safe and sound.

Together, we will continue to RISE!

Mac the Therapy Dog

This year we are very delighted to welcome Mac at Stuart as our Animal Assisted Therapy Dog. Mac is a 10 year old West Highland Terrier who has been trained and certified to be a therapy dog. Mac has completed all the necessary training and assessments certifying that he is an appropriate candidate to work with young people and to help with concerns such as anxiety, social skills, focusing issues, self-esteem, teamwork, communication and other challenges.

Online Learning Behavior Expectations

In an effort to help you maximize your Raptor's learning while at home, we have developed a Stuart Online Behavior Expectations document. Please make sure that you take time to review it with your child so that he/she can be more efficient with their online learning. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's Academic Adviser.
