The rest of January!
What's Happening...
Mrs. Angela Beasley is here as a long term substitute while Mrs. Bundenthal is out. Yay! If you have any questions for her, please feel free to email her at AngelaBe@fsusd.org with your communications.
If your child needed a progress report, those will come home by the end of the week. If they did not receive a progress report they will bring home a letter explaining that they did not require one. If you don't get either from your child, contact your child's teacher.
Friday is PAJAMA/COMFY DAY! Students can wear their most comfortable clothes or pajamas to school if they choose. Please do not wear slippers.
What we have been learning...
Students have been learning lots of new things since we returned from vacation!
We have been exploring time and measurement in math. Please take the time to help your student practice telling time at home or any time you see an analog clock or give kids the opportunity to practice measurement skills. Having everyday conversations about these concepts at home helps them practice and reinforce what they are learning.
In ELA, we have been practicing non-fiction reading strategies as we learn more about ancient Greece. Summarizing, finding main ideas, and key details are important comprehension strategies for kids to access more complicated concepts they learn from non-fiction. They are also learning to format and write opinion pieces using facts from their reading.
We have also started a science, engineering, and research unit on inventors, inventions, and simple machines. Students will be reading, exploring, and prototyping during this unit with lots of hands-on activities.
Our music elective has ended for the year. This means the students started their art class this week which will continue until the end of the year.
