The Howler Vol. 24
March 17th, 2023
Download today! FirstView Bus Tracker App
We have tested and can now share the FirstView bus tracking app with you!
Please see this configuration guide with step by step instructions on how to see where your child's bus is.
Your district code is MQ7B
Please be aware, one limitation of the system is that each bus can only have one route assigned. That means that on early release Wednesday, the app will not show the bus. This is a known issue, and the developers are working to resolve it.
FirstView has a great customer service team, and they are the ones to contact for support. The district cannot help with any issues during the installation or use of the app.
Contact FirstView Monday – Friday (Support provided in English only):
o Calling the toll-free phone number 888-889-8920 from 7:00 a.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST
o Emailing Customer Support at support@firstviewapp.com
o Using the in-app “✉” button to provide feedback
School Counseling Updates
Our March and April Focus is on “Thinkers”
The character traits related to being thinkers are; curious, flexible, reflective, knowledgable, and creative. We will be working on these skills throughout the focus period and relating this back to our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support systems.
Our Readers with Character book focus for March is: We are Growing, by Laurie Keller. Here is a link to a reading of the book; 🌿 We Are Growing | Kids Book Read Aloud 📚
Thank you to our parent organization, GWPO for supporting this project! This book is written by the author that our students enjoyed a virtual visit with this last week.
We are Growing is a story about how we ALL grow and we all will find our “something-est”.
PLEASE, if your child or your family are experiencing challenges, please reach out to me for support.

Grant Watts Gray Wolves are THINKERS!
That’s right, we have an amazing student body of creative, reflective, and knowledgeable students. This month, classrooms will be reading, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. In this true story, a teenage boy’s village in Africa experienced drought and famine. Instead of letting defeat overtake him and his family, he decided to be a THINKER. Enjoy the story by visiting the link below. There is also a movie on Netflix and a young adult novel written about the amazing journey of a person that did not give up hope.

Please Take a Look For Those Books!
LAST CALL FOR BOOKS FROM 2022!: Please take a look around for books that you have gotten notices for–next week I will send home the final slips for books that have a due date in September, October, November and December. If they are not returned the first week of April, they will be marked lost in the system and you will receive a notice to pay for the book. I hate for any family to have to pay for a book, so please take a good look around. I actually had a kiddo this week tell me they didn’t want to return the book because they like it so much–I had to remind them that our books are to borrow and return so others can enjoy them too, they brought it back after 98 days and it was immediately checked out again by another student because it is a good book! If you have a lost book and you have received the slip with the fine to replace the book (because the student told me it was lost), please send the slip and payment back to school at your earliest convenience. (If paying to replace the book is a hardship for your family please reach out, so I can work on helping you with the situation!) Before you pay for a book (please do not send a replacement), please take one more BIG look around–I would rather you find it versus pay for it! Please note that I do not send the LOST/FINE notices until I check our library shelves to make sure it was not misplaced back on our shelves. You guys are amazing book detectives–I know you can do it!! Thank you for returning your books each week!
WINTER READING CHALLENGE: All Reading Challenge materials should be turned into Mrs. Nudo by March 17th–prizes will be awarded the week of 3/20 during your library time! No late slips will be accepted, so please make sure to get them turned in on time–if you forget on your library day, take them to the office and they will put them in my box! Thanks!
AMAZON WISH LIST: Thanks again for all the book wishes that are being granted!! This week we got some REALLY cool cookbooks! I keep updating the list with requests from the kids, so please keep checking back in on the list. You can find our list at this link. Thank you so much for your generosity! Together we are building a better library for all our Gray Wolves!
DISTRICT LIBRARIAN WEBSITE: Please visit our District Librarian Website for more information. Thank you so much for supporting our library!
Happy Reading! ~ Mrs. Nudo

Curriculum Corner
Each year, we share with families information about our district-approved health curriculum, The Great Body Shop. You may have seen some of the fliers going home from your child’s classroom, as there is an opportunity built into each issue to continue the discussion at home. Our materials arrived late this school year, so most classrooms are just getting started, and not following the attached schedule. You are encouraged to reach out to the school with any questions you might have, and may opt your child out of any/all lessons. Please note, the standards are written in adult language, but the student materials are developmentally appropriate by age/grade level.
