Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
An e-newsletter from Mounds View Public Schools
April 1, 2020
As the situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we know there are ongoing questions about the school closure and distance learning.
The information in this message is the most current that we have at this time. Please know that as we have new information, we will continue to share it with the community and encourage you to visit www.moundsviewschools.org/coronavirus for FAQs, resources and regular updates. If you have an additional question, you can fill out a contact form here.
Distance learning
All schools are now delivering distance learning to students through May 4. To learn what this means for a specific student, parents are encouraged to contact the student’s teacher. The District-wide distance learning plan is available here.
Contacting schools
During this period of distance learning, staff members are still working. They are just doing so remotely. If you have questions or need to contact someone, please feel free to call your school’s main phone number. Schools are forwarding phones and checking voicemail regularly. If you would like to leave a message for a staff member, please do so and they will return your call as soon as possible. Or feel welcome to send an email to the school. Email addresses for each school are set up as “schoolname@moundsviewschools.org.” For example, Bel Air Elementary School’s email address is belair@moundsviewschools.org.
April school dates
As previously scheduled, Friday, April 3, and 10, are not instructional days for students.
In the high schools, Tuesday, April 7, will be an instructional day for all students. April 7 was previously scheduled as the ACT exam day. All student testing has been postponed, including the District-wide ACT test for juniors. We are working with ACT to reschedule this exam for a later date.
Buildings locked and closed to the public
District buildings will remain locked and closed to the public at least through April 10. This includes athletic fields and facilities. The Governor’s order requires our schools to provide meals for any family and childcare for children of parents who work in our schools or in emergency or healthcare fields. This requires the following buildings to be open only to provide these services:
- Meal distribution sites: Pinewood, Snail Lake, Edgewood and Highview
- Childcare centers: Island Lake and Sunnyside
