- Based on Siddhartha Gautama's journey to find enlightenment
- It is a monotheistic religion

- Dalai Lama is head of Buddhist monks in Tibet

Hinduism
- Is regarded as the oldest living religion
- Doesn't have a single God
- Has many Gods: Shiva, Lakshmi, Brahma, Ganesh
- Believes in cycle of birth and death due to karma
- Is polytheistic religion
- Has no single leader or founder
- Holy Books: Vedas
- There are four of them which were written thousands of years ago
- Related to Sikhism, Jainism, and buddhism
- 900 million Hindus worldwide
- Diwali: most commonly celebrated festival

Christianity
- Is world's largest religion with over 2 billion followers
- Is monotheistic religion
- Believe Jesus is son of God who was sent down to Earth to save humans from the consequences of their sins
- Believe God has three parts
- Holy Book: Bible, which contains both Old and New Testaments
- Started when Jesus gave his life on the cross and resurrected later
- Worship in churches
- Religious leaders are called priests or ministers
- MaJor Holidays: Christmas and Easter

Islam
- Is religion based in Mecca, Arabia
- Believe that the Prophet Muhammed sent people down to Earth to teach people how to live
- Monotheistic
- God: Allah
- Holy Book: Quran
- Is 1400 years old
- There are five pillars that give an outline of how to live a good life
- Muslims think religion always existed, but it was dated from when Muhammed migrated
- Ramadan: when Quran was revealed and gates to heaven are open
- Muslims fast during daylight hour in the ninth month of the Islam Calendar, which is when Ramadan takes place
- Go to pray in Mosques
Mecca
All Muslims should come here to pray at least once in their life.

Judaism
- One of oldest monotheistic religions
- Founded by Moses 3500 years ago in the Middle East
- God: Abraham
- Has 13.1 million followers around the world
- Mostly live in U.S. and Israel
- Believe there is only one God whom with they have a covenant
- Holy Book: Torah
- In exchange for all the good God has done for humans, Jews follow God's rules and bring holiness to all parts of their lives
- Spiritual leaders are called Rabbis
- Go to pray in synangogues
