Executive Board Nominations for 2017-18

Are you looking for a way to get more involved at CRES and within the PTO? The PTO executive board member elections are currently open and nominations are due by midnight on March 24th. We are seeking nominations for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Member-at-Large. Included in this newsletter is a job description for each position as it is written in the bylaws. Please review each and consider if you or another parent/guardian at CRES would be a good candidate for one of more of these offices. You may nominate yourself or someone else by completing the form and turning it into the CRES office or by emailing it to cumberlandroadelementarypto@gmail.com. The elections for the executive board will take place at our PTO Open Forum meeting on April 11. Please consider partnering with the teachers, staff, and administration in serving our kids by taking on a leadership role in the PTO.


Classroom CRES Fest Baskets

CRES Fest will be here before we know it, and a lot of great planning has already begun. Be on the lookout for an email from your room parents in the coming days, if you haven’t heard from them already. They will be communicating your child’s classroom auction basket theme and sharing ways for you to get involved!


CRES Fest Sponsorship

Are you a local business owner? Do you know someone that is? The CRES PTO is putting a call-out to local business owners interested in sponsorship opportunities for CRES Fest. CRES Fest is a family-friendly event with games, food trucks, a silent auction, and more, that will take place on Friday, April 28th. There are many different levels of sponsorships available. If your business is interested in being a part of this fantastic evening or you have questions, please contact Mechelle Brandenburg at mebranden@yahoo.com .


Next Open Forum Meeting

The next PTO Open Forum meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 7:00 p.m.! We hope to see you there! Mark your calendars to attend – free childcare will be provided by the YMCA.


CRES Fest News

We are pleased to announce that the food trucks from CRES Fest have been reserved and we are looking forward to enjoying some delicious food at CRES Fest on April 28th. Along with a handful of amazing trucks returning (Dashboard Diner, Big Ron’s, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Der Pretzel Wagen, and Twisted Sicilian) we also have two new ones joining us - Serendipity and Pierogi Love. We hope you are as excited as we are for these great food trucks!

4th Grade Track Team

4th Grade Track is a club that is open to all 4th graders at Cumberland Road Elementary. There are 9 practices held after school beginning March 22nd and the team will compete in one track meet against three other schools on Tuesday, May 5th at Fishers HS. There is a $4.00 fee (REQUIRED) to cover the cost of transportation, ribbons and post season Awards Party, as well as a $7.50 cost (OPTIONAL) if you want to order a team t-shirt. Registration ends on Friday, March 10. There are 10 different events for the boys and for the girls. Everyone that joins the team will have the opportunity to participate. There is something for everyone. This is an exciting opportunity for you to show your school spirit as we race toward victory. If you need additional information or have any questions please contact your child’s 4th grade teacher or the coaches, Mr. Greiwe and Mr. Dankoski.

District Art Show and T-Shirt order form


The Annual District Art Show will be held on March 18 and 19 at HHS.

Students from all over the district will display their talents from 2:00 – 5:00 PM each day. Please enter through Door 18 (CCA Entrance). Artwork will be displayed in the CCA cafeteria, Leonard Auditorium lobby, Cafeteria D, the Concourse Hallway. There will be live music, face painting and art from all district schools.

National Nutrition Month 2017

March is National Nutrition Month! This year’s theme "Put Your Best Fork Forward" serves to remind us that each one of us holds the tool to make healthier food choices. National Nutrition Month focuses on promoting healthful eating and physical activity habits. Making small changes over time, helps improve health now and into the future.



In celebration of National Nutrition Month, Hamilton Southeastern Schools will be offering fruit and vegetable samples to students at all schools every day during the last week of March. We encourage all students to join us in celebrating and come enjoy some delicious, healthy treats!

Tiger Night Lights

The Fishers Tigers Football team will be hosting Tiger Night Lights for all 1st through 4th grade boys. You are invited to join Fishers High School head coach, Rick Wimmer, members of the coaching staff and Tiger football players for an evening of fun, football and pizza. Boys will get to talk football and be coached by Tiger coaches and players, participate in some non-contact football drills, play games and compete in the Tiger Football Combine Experience much like drills used in the NFL Combine. Pizza and drinks will be provided at the end of the night and players and coaches will be available for autographs.


WHEN: Friday, March 24th (includes T-Shirt)

6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

WHERE: Fishers High School Gymnasium

(Enter in Main entrance. Sign in by cafeteria)

COST: $30.00

· Entire evening will be chaperoned by football parents, players and coaches

· One-on-one interaction with the FHS coaches and players

· Reservations preferred, but walk-ins are welcome

Cold Weather Recess

Recess will be held outdoors whenever possible. Precipitation, sunshine, cloud cover, wind chill, temperature, etc. are all considered when a decision is made for indoor recess. In general, recess will be held indoors when it is raining or the temperature/wind chill falls below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.


Students will go outside in cold/snowy weather at the teacher's discretion. Please check the weather forecast for possible precipitation during the school day. Children should bring coats, hats, gloves and snow boots in the morning to be prepared for a snowy recess.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found items will be placed in the Hallways on the following dates:


March 9th

April 20th

May 11th


After one week in the hallway, they will be sent to Goodwill.


**Our Lost and Found is always available for parents to come in to check for missing items. Please check in at our office before heading to the Lost and Found.
