Principal's Message

Dear Edison Families,

I understand this past year has been filled with more change and challenges for many within our community. As we move into the final month of school it’s not lost on me the great lengths by which families have rallied around our kids, our school, and each other. This week we move that much closer to a greater sense of normalcy with our in person Open House. We look forward to having families visit classrooms and see the outstanding work and effort happening at Edison all year.

Our entire staff has worked tirelessly to offer high-quality lessons and learning experiences for students, as well as fostered a safe, healthy and positive environment. We are grateful for the ongoing partnership of our entire community for supporting the efforts of our amazing staff.

Together, I hope families will join me in celebrating our tireless faculty and staff by donating a small treat or two for our "Grab and Go Staff Appreciation Breakfast Bar."

Simply drop off an item with our main office this week, and we will put the items together for a tasty dose of appreciation. Nothing says we care like something yummy :) And, if we can keep this between us, it’s sort of a surprise ;)

We remain grateful for your continued support and encouragement as we navigate these final weeks #edisonstrong #together!

As always, I look forward to hearing from you. You are always welcome to connect with me, just call ahead at (909)984-5618 and the door will open.

Certificated and Classified Employee's of the Year

Congratulations to our Employees of the Year, Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Tilley! Each year staff is able to identify colleagues who go above and beyond to support students, families and staff.

This recognition is especially notable because it is peers nominating and voting for peers -- Mrs. Tilley has served as our Attendance Clerk here at Edison for a number of years. Mrs. Peterson is new to Edison this year and has already made a notable impact with our community as our Instructional Coach.

We are fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated staff at Edison.

COVID-19 Guidelines

While California Department of Public Health (CDPH) strongly recommends that individuals continue to wear face coverings in indoor settings, the choice to mask is at the discretion of each student, employee, and family.

We will continue to implement the remaining layered mitigation strategies including:

  • staying home when sick

  • hand washing

  • air filtration

  • group contact tracing

  • antigen and pcr testing

  • quarantine

  • daily disinfecting and cleaning

Additionally, CDC recommends that everyone 5 years and older protect themselves from COVID-19 by getting vaccinated. Everyone ages 12 years and older should stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines and get a booster shot when eligible. Please consult with your primary care physician.

You can find more details in OMSD's School Reopening and Safety Plan.

Students Presenting Symptoms at Home -- Please Contact Our Health Office

In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Student Symptom Decision Tree.

This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.

Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.
