PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Hidden River Families--
As we wrap up this first week of May, it is pretty amazing to think that the end of our school year is right around the corner!
The end of the school year is always full of lots of information, so we thought we would give a few details this week to help you prepare for some upcoming things you will need to know:
Yearbook Sales: Yearbooks will be on sale once again starting on Monday, May 10th and continue through June 23rd - or until sold out. You can purchase one through Family Access, online only for $20.00. We only have a limited number left, so don't miss out!
8th Grade Party / Shirts: Our PTO is working on putting together a party for our 8th grade students. This party will be offsite, and is a PTO-sponsored event. It is a longstanding tradition to bring together 8th graders from Park Place and Hidden River to mark the start of their high school experience together! More details to follow, but we wanted to let you know there is planning on the works for this. Rumor has it that students are also creating a shirt design for some sort of shirt sale as well, to unify the two groups of students coming together.
End of Year Traditions: We are in the planning stages for our end of year traditions such as our all-school awards / awards assembly, and our annual field day. We will be creating some opportunities for celebrating this year and honoring the work of our students, but do not know exactly what that looks like quite yet. We will keep you and our students in the communication loop about these activities.
Note about Car Pick-up / Drop-off: This is not an end of year detail, but I wanted to both thank you and ask you for your continued patience with us as we bring students in and out of the building from our car-drop off and pick-up area. Please follow the flow of traffic (i.e. the car in front of you)-- we have several staff on our sidewalks waving people into the next spot in our drop off zone. Following their lead and guidance will help us maintain safety and efficiency with this process.
Thank you all-- I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!

REMINDER FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Please be aware that our illness policy has changed, we are following the Snohomish County Health Department guidelines for K-12 schools, click here for more information. If you are calling your student out sick from school (even for a simple runny nose), please note that you will receive a call from the health room for more information.
Please be aware: Medical condition or Covid symptoms?
Some of our students are exhibiting symptoms of Covid that may actually be related to seasonal or medical conditions, such as allergies or asthma. In order for your child to be able to come to school they need to be symptom free. However, in some cases, they could return to school if you obtain a note from your child's doctor with a diagnosis and symptoms that are related to their medical condition. Otherwise, your child will need to stay out for the required Snohomish County Health Dept quarantine time. Students may return earlier than the 10 days if they get a negative Covid test while the student is symptomatic. If you have questions, please call our school nurse or health room assistant for more information
FREE MEALS CONTINUE FOR ALL STUDENTS!
Did you know we are still offering FREE meals for all students, even when they are attending in-person?!
Meals for students in grades 6-12 are a combination of in school service and take-home meals. On the days they attend in-person, students are offered a free sack lunch to be eaten at school. They also have an opportunity to receive free take-home meals at the end of their day, which includes breakfasts and lunches for the days that they will be remote learning.
We know that children learn better when they have had a meal. Please encourage your student to take advantage of the free meals both in school and take-home! We will continue offering free meals through the rest of this school year!
