Hello Hoover
August 11th, 2023
Hello Hawk families,
We had an amazing start to the 2024 school year! It was great to see our hallways filled with excited students. I am eager to share many updates and information!
Administration: First, I would like to take a moment to recognize our amazing cafeteria team. Our team, with Pam Rollison as the manager, received the 5 Star Award for the excellent service they provide our students every day. Hoover Middle School has not received this award since 2015, and we are very proud of our cafeteria crew! Check out their picture below :)
Secondly, I would like to share a link to the 2024 Student Code of Conduct below. It has been recently approved by BPS, which means that it is in effect for the 2023-2024 academic year. Students took home a Student Acknowledgement Form on the first day of school, and they should have asked for your signature. In case you need an extra one, just click the link below.
I’ve attached a link to our school’s Annual Asbestos Notification to Building Occupants and their Legal Guardians below.
Families, please remember that checkouts are not allowed after 3:45 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays and Fridays at 2:30 pm.
Athletics: We are excited to start the basketball season soon. Mrs. Sadowski, our PE teacher and Athletic Director has created an Athletic newsletter with dates and forms needed to participate. I hope to see students participating in sports or supporting our athletics department. I've attached a flyer with more information.
Mascot tryouts for the Hoover basketball games will be on Friday, August 18th in room B-15 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Students must complete an athletic packet to participate. If you would like more information, please contact Ms. Ernst in room B-15 or by email at ernst.katelyn@brevardschools.org
The Hawkettes Dance Team is still accepting applications. If you are interested in joining, please see Ms. Alvarez in room G-1 or by email at: alvarez.debra@brevardschools.org
Teachers: Huge shoutout to Mrs. Benzel for the amazing recognition our chorus students received in last year’s MPA. Hoover Middle School was one of only 10 schools in Florida to earn a Superior with Distinction. We are so proud of how our students represented Hoover!
PTO: Thank you for supporting us! PTO hosted a lunch for faculty and staff during pre-planning and a breakfast with bagels and coffee for our first day!
On August 22, 3:00 pm – 8:30 pm, PTO is also hosting a Support Hoover Night at Texas Roadhouse. Please come out, enjoy their delicious food and support our PTO.
Clubs/Organizations and Events: The Cricut Cares Club is currently recruiting new members. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Quintero in room A-10 or by email at quintero.lourdes@brevardschools.org. In this club, students will design and make cards, stickers, and other crafts using a Cricut craft machine. Members will use their creativity to spread joy and positivity within our school by making birthday cards, stickers, banners and more.
Please enjoy some pictures of our first two days back!
Sincerely,
Paloma Ferreira, Ed.D.
