A Welcome Message from Mr. Henderson
Hello Frog Pond Families,
I am excited to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. Our custodial and administrative staff have been working hard to get our school ready and our teachers cannot wait to get to know your children. We understand that returning to school after summer break can be stressful for children and parents alike. For the first week, we will have staff stationed throughout the school during arrival and dismissal to assist students with directions or just provide a reassuring smile. Every effort is made for students to gain confidence and it always amazes me how quickly they learn their way around the building. Our back to school night is scheduled for Wednesday September 13, 2017 at 6:00pm. Parents will meet briefly in the multi-purpose room then head to their child’s classroom for an overview of what to expect this school year. Local organizations will have informational material available for those that are interested. I encourage you to keep an open line of communication with your child’s teacher during the school year if you have any questions or concerns. Our school hours are 7:50am until 2:40pm. Please make every effort to have your student in school and on time. Attendance is an important part of ensuring student success. Arriving late or leaving early causes them to miss important instruction time.
Parent involvement is welcome and encouraged. Volunteer opportunities in our school are always available. Contact our main office for information on how you can get involved. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook and check our website for upcoming events and announcements.
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Troy Henderson
Principal
A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION JACQUELINE TRUZZOLINO
Some of my roles as Director of Elementary Education are to be the District Anti-Bullying Coordinator and to assist administration in improving school climate and discipline. I will be facilitating a School Climate Committee that will review programs and resources we can bring into our schools to support our students with character education and positive behaviors. If you are interested in being on that committee (Your child can attend too...We would love their input!), please contact me at 609-296-1719 ext. 2100. Meetings will be held before/after school.
Our largest area of concern for student behaviors is on the school bus. Students should always wear their seatbelts on the bus, keep their hands and feet to themselves, and not yell. Please review proper bus behavior with your child and help us in this area. We need to ensure that students arrive to school safely every day and return home safely. If students cannot ride the school bus safely, we will be meeting with these students and their parents/guardians to come up with a plan to improve these behaviors. Your help and support with this effort is great appreciated.

September, 2017
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to a brand new school year that promises new experiences and fun learning! My name is Regina Nielsen and I am your student’s S.T.E.A.M. Lab teacher. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). I will meet each class bi-monthly alternating between both the Frog Pond School and the George J. Mitchell School. Your child will be exposed to a variety of innovative activities that will encourage participation in the Design Engineering Process, which will include planning, developing new or improved prototypes as well as experiences in coding robots and so much more! It is always our hope to have all children remain safe, so I am including some Standard Rules that we all will follow in the STEAM Lab. Please take some time to reinforce these safety rules at home so that we can insure and maintain a safe and working environment! Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
Regina M. Nielsen
IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES!
We always walk in the STEAM Lab and respect each other’s space.
We cover our eyes with goggles and our hands with gloves when necessary.
We never taste anything or put anything in our mouths, eyes, ears or nose.
We use tools, utensils and materials mindfully with respect to ourselves and others.
We share materials with each other and we work respectfully with each other in our groups. We give each other encouragement and compliments.
Whatever we take out and use we put back immediately when we are finished.
If we need something that is not readily available, we ask Mrs. Nielsen for the item first.
If we spill or break something, we tell Mrs. Nielsen immediately.
We wash our hands if we have had a spill or have anything messy on our hands.
At the end of our session, we clean-up quickly and neatly for the next class coming in.
*It is suggested that your child have an old shirt or T-shirt to wear as a smock on STEAM Lab days just in case the activity gets messy…..but FUN!
