PFES - Board Report
August 16, 2022
Reunification Table Top
On August 16 approximately 12 staff participated in this tabletop. As a reminder, this tabletop exercise was intended to familiarize key staff members with the I Love U Guys recommended protocols to reunify parents with their children in a crisis situation such as a violent intruder or natural disaster.
During the debrief, staff thought we met the goal to familiarize ourselves with the safe and secure transfer of control from school staff to parents for each child. The admin team is going to follow up with discussion on whether we need a duplicate kit at both sites and the best storage site for the kit. We identified some missing components such as wristbands, pencils, and bullhorns. Those will be ordered.
Parent Registration
Maria is acting as the parent and Anastasia is acting as the Parent Check In Supervisor. Anastasia is explaining how to fill out the perforated card that would ensure proper record keeping during the reunification.
Crisis Response
Jeni is serving as a counselor in the mock room designed for supporting families of victims.
Student Staging
This side of the tabletop was allocated to student staging.
We used the tables to make "pretend spaces" where we would playout the reunification. In the end, this allowed us to think about and then walk through the process.
Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation helps students develop awareness of feelings, and alertness levels while exploring a variety of tools and strategies for regulation, prosocial skills, self-care, and overall wellness. The simple, common language and visual structure of The Zones of Regulation helps make the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and those who support them.
b.e.s.t.
The b.e.s.t. ® (Behavioral Emotional Social Traits) is a Universal Screening Platform for educational professionals designed to build on the behavioral health of students while helping to identify students who may benefit from additional, positive behavioral support. The training helped staff understand the rationale behind the screener and the ways it can be used to help students be at their best.
