Big Idea: A way to differentiate how students show their learning (product)
Sternberg's learning theory focuses on the tri mind, where students have aptitude for all intelligences but are stronger in one area. The three areas of intelligence are detailed here:
Analytical: This type of intellectual ability is described by part-to-whole, linear, and sequential ways of learning in school.
Practical: Is real world application type of learning. It is characterized by using knowledge in authentic contexts.
Creative: Is characterized by imaginative problem solving, innovation, and thinking outside of the box in useful ways.
In the Classroom: For every product or way in which kids are showing their learning, provide them with 3 choices, one connected to each type of intelligence. Below are some examples as well as a template that you can duplicate.
