01/12/15 What we are learning!
Reading-
- This week we are continuing to work on our Novel Tuck Everlasting. We are going to be working on the ideas of setting and foreshadowing this week. We will continue to work on finding signposts in our reading.
- I can compare and contrast two or more characters or settings in a story.
- I can accurately quote from the text when making inferences.
Writing-
This week we are wrapping up and publishing our expository pieces. Be sure to check out our bulletin board for these pieces soon! We will start to dig into our persuasive writing unit this week also.
- I can use the writing process to produce high quality writing pieces.
- I can choose a topic to share with an audience.
Math-
This week we will be working on multiplying and dividing decimals. We are starting out with place value chips so students can understand the why of this algorithm.
- I can add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals to the hundredths place.
Science
We are starting our study of the universe. We are beginning by studying the moon. Students this week will be recreating how the phases of the moon occur.
- I can recognize the Moon orbits Earth about once a month
- I can sequence images of the Moon as seen from the Earth.
- I can relate the apparent motion of the Sun, Moon, and the stars to the rotation of the Earth.
