For Parents of SENIORS - GRADUATION INFO IS HERE!!!
Dear Parents/Guardians of THS seniors:
Congratulations on your student’s accomplishment! Graduation is an important milestone, and we look forward to honoring our Class of 2018. This week, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved an agreement to return to the Smart Financial Centre for this year’s graduation ceremonies, and I am excited to share that our graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
In June 2017, FBISD hosted its first successful graduation ceremonies at the Smart Financial Centre. In two days, the District hosted more than 6,000 graduates and more than 46,000 guests in 11 ceremonies. Following the ceremonies, FBISD conducted a survey of parents and guests, and as a result, the District has worked with its partners to improve upon last year’s inaugural event and respond to feedback, especially as it relates to the ticketing and parking. In addition, the events have been spaced out over three days, instead of two, making it possible to have students reunite with their families at the venue. This will allow for better traffic flow.
- To facilitate the ticketing process, each THS graduating senior will automatically receive an allocation of 8 tickets, with no action needed. Families will only go online should they want to request additional or fewer tickets.
- Between February 12 and March 2 families will have the opportunity to request additional tickets, or indicate whether they need fewer than their allocation of 8 tickets. We plan to notify all families by spring break with an update on how many additional tickets they have been allocated, giving families more time to plan. You will learn more about the online ticket request system in early 2018.
- Students will report to our campus and ride a shuttle to the Smart Financial Centre for the commencement. This allows us to stage students in order and ensure prompt arrival. Based on feedback, we have made accommodations and students will be able to reunite with their families at the venue following the ceremony.
- Families will also be able to pay for parking onsite, with no limitations, another improvement from last year’s events.
Please continue to check the Graduation Webpage on the Fort Bend ISD website for more information.
Please remember that all graduation requirements must be met in order for your student to participate in the commencement ceremony.
We look forward to sharing this special milestone with all of our families!
Sincerely-
Julie Diaz
Principal
