Zoo Field Trip - April 6
Thursday, April 6th we are going on a field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo!
We will be leaving the school at 8:30 and traveling by bus to the Zoo. We will return to school by 2:00. Your child needs to bring a SACK LUNCH that is completely DISPOSABLE! Make sure your child’s name is written on the paper bag or a gallon zip lock bag. Deli Bag sack lunches can be ordered in advance from the cafeteria using the included Sack Lunch form (turn in with permission slip).
The children are not to bring money to purchase things at the Zoo! We do not want to have any hurt feelings because some children do not have money to spend.
Students will wear their JES Green PTO T-shirts to the zoo.
Zoo Chaperones - IMPORTANT
If you signed up to be a Chaperone, make sure to go online and buy your ticket by using this link: https://www.fortworthzoo.org

Shoe Drive March 20-31
The nonprofit Soles4Souls is collecting new and gently worn shoes to help those in need! Please consider donating shoes that you no longer wear or have outgrown for a good cause. All sizes and types of shoes for men, women and children are appreciated. Boxes will be located inside the front lobby of all CISD elementary schools for two weeks from March 20-31st. Click here to learn more about Soles4Souls.
JES Multicultural Event
After a 2-year hiatus, the JES PTO is excited to bring back the annual multicultural event, JES Airways Flight 76092 - Around the World in 90 Minutes on April 17th from 5:30-7pm in the cafeteria. We want to give our kids a chance to explore the world right here within the walls of our school. Please sign up by Friday, March 31st to host a table and share the games, toys, crafts, food, clothing, and decor of a country or culture. Click HERE to register for a table. We are hoping to have tables represented from all over the world, whether near or far; north, south, east, or west. This is your passport to see it all!
Kinder Only
Kindergarten Cap & Gown picture day will be Tuesday, April 4th. All Kinder students will be photographed on picture day, but no money is required the day of the photos. Individual proofs will be emailed approximately 2 weeks after picture day, allowing you to view, select background, and purchase portrait packages and products online. Snap Words
A Snap Word Extension book with 11 snap word lists came home. These are words that you can practice at home at your own pace to continue to build your child's snap word skills beyond our 25 report card words. This booklet can stay in your child's take home reading bag for practice.
Once your child is able to read all the words, you can extend by having your child practice spelling and writing each word.
*Here is a link where you can access the Kindergarten report card words as well as all the snap word we will introduce throughout the year during our Phonics study time. You can use this to create your own flash cards for home practice.

Carroll ISD Safety and Security

Birthday Treats
We love celebrating birthdays! Families may bring in birthday treats for their students, but they must adhere to district policy and be approved by front office staff.
Please communicate with your teacher to coordinate.
Treats must be store-bought that with an ingredients label that says "Made in a Nut-Free Facility" and can be verified by our office staff. All treats have to be approved. Please call if you aren't sure if something will be allowed so we can avoid an issue!
Food Allergies
Carroll ISD restricts all peanuts and tree nuts from classrooms; this includes daily snacks, birthday celebrations and class parties. All food items brought into school for classroom consumption must be coordinated by the classroom teacher, be store bought and have an ingredient label attached to the packaging. Any label that states the following is NOT permitted in the classroom:
- “May contain peanuts or tree nuts”
- “Processed on shared equipment with nuts”
- “Manufactured in a plant containing peanuts or tree nuts”
- “Contains peanuts or tree nut ingredients”
For safe food options please visit snacksafely.com. For more information, please contact the school nurse, Denise Anstiss, at 817 949-4500 or denise.anstiss@southlakecarroll.edu.
