Tumuaki Kōrero

Kia ora e te whānau,

It has been fantastic to see our learners settled into classroom routines and enjoying the company of their friends over the past few weeks. Kaiako (teachers) across all learning teams have been impressed and encouraged by the resilience, positive attitude and engagement of our learners. We know that much of this is the result of your encouragement at home and TNIS staff are so grateful for your support.

Our kaiako are working hard to run hybrid learning programmes, concurrently teaching both online and face-to-face in their classrooms. This has certainly added to the complexity of their daily programme and I would like to acknowledge and thank them for their commitment to the education and wellbeing of our tamariki.

At the Red Protection Framework setting, our extra-curricular programme is waiting in the wings but please be assured that it is well-planned and all activities are ready to launch as soon as it is safe for us to do so.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of our ten new School Leaders. They are already busy scripting and presenting assemblies and devising ways to enhance the culture in our school. Please watch our assembly next week where they will be introducing themselves.

The safety and wellbeing of our tamariki and wider TNIS community is a top priority. We are following all of the Ministry guidance we are given to mitigate the transmission of Covid 19. The main means of mitigation is the continued and consistent use of masks in our school. Thank you for ensuring that your children have their masks and for encouraging them to wear them properly and safely.

.

Finally, on behalf of our staff, I would like to thank our Board of Trustees for their dedication and thorough process in appointing our new principal Zane Wilson. We are excited about welcoming him to Te Kura Waenga Whakangungu O Takapuna and starting our mahi with him in Term 2.

Ngā mihi,

Kate Surgison

Acting Principal

Spotlight on our Specialist Programme - Music

Spotlight On Our Specialist Programme - Music

Learners in Music lessons have collaborated to create an instrumental arrangement of our Kāhui Ako waiata "Rangitoto E". They have been exploring a range of instruments under the guidance of our Performing Arts specialist teacher Laura Gardiner. Learners rotated to explore instruments such as guitar, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, ukulele and percussion and chose one instrument to focus on. They then decided which instruments would play and when during the arrangement and how the structure of the waiata would work. Take a look at this lesson in action!
