Meet HROA's NEW Digital Tech Coach & HS Math Support Teacher Meet HROA's NEW Digital Tech Coach & HS Math Support Teacher

Christopher Dirks Christopher Dirks

I have been teaching for 8 years in High School math and Alternative Education. Most currently, I have taught Geometry and Algebra 1. I am excited to be part of the HROA team and support through teaching and digital technology. This program allows for a diverse group of learners to be successful and I look forward to meeting and working with all of them!

I am from the Hood River area and attended Parkdale Elementary, Wy'east Middle School, and HRVHS. I attended Linfield University and was lucky enough to get a job back in the valley right after school. My wife, Ellie, works for Mid Columbia Children's Council and is the health and nutrition manager for all of the local Head Start programs. Our son Marcus is almost 2 years old and loves to be outside in the sunshine playing in the water!

Emily Kohner - Student Achievement & Enrichment Specialist

If you've participated in HROA's Friday community enrichment activities, you've met Ms. Kohner! We can thank her for the community enrichment activities, as well as supporting our middle and high school students with necessary academic supports. Ms. Kohner loves to work with students and with her history in Special Education and Reading Intervention, as well as assisting students learning English, she is a tremendous asset to HROA. To top that, Ms. Kohner has passionately worked to establish relationships with a wide variety of community partners in order to provide HROA students exceptional enrichment opportunities beyond academics. HROA is committed to building a strong program that connects students and families with each other and our staff, and Ms. Kohner is the one that makes it possible!
