Record books! Record books! Record books!

Record books are vital for FFA members success!! I will provide record book help to students (grades 8-12) during lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays, and after school by appointment. If you are wanting to apply for your Lone Star Degree and/or scholarships for the 2019-2020 year, do not wait until the last minute to complete your record book.

October FFA Meeting

Tuesday, Oct. 1st, 6pm

The October FFA Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the MG Ag Shop. There will be a Costume Contest for kids! Prizes for the best costume in the Junior Division (grade K-5), Intermediate (grade 6-8) and Senior (grade 9-12).


There will be a parent meeting about the Miller Grove Livestock Show during the FFA meeting.

Meat Sale Fund Raiser Due October 9th

The meat sale brochures have gone home with students! All orders are due back Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Payment is due at the time of order. Make checks payable to Miller Grove FFA.


If you have a Jr FFA member and would like a meat sale brochure, please email me and I will send one to the elementary school for them.

Texas FFA Officers are coming to Miller Grove!!!!

The Texas FFA State Officer Traveling Team will be visiting Miller Grove FFA on Monday, October 14th from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. The travel team consists of Texas FFA President, Carlye Winfrey, and 1st Vice President, Calvin Morgan. Our Area VI Vice President, Tracy Branch, will be here as well. This presentation is for all students grades 8-12, faculty, parents and community supporters.


**Visitors, please check-in at the office prior to coming to the gym.**

MILLER GROVE FFA LIVESTOCK SHOW

We have a confirmed date for the Miller Grove FFA Livestock Show! It will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie, TX. Last year we had 221 cattle, hog, lambs and goats exhibited at our show! The 2020 show is going to be BIGGER & BETTER!


The goal of the MGLS is to be a scholarship show for our FFA members that graduate and have received their FFA Lonestar Degree. We will have a MGLS parent meeting during the October 1st FFA meeting! We need lots of parent help for this event..... so please come and sign up to help at the show!!!

Shopping is underway for PIGS, SHEEP, GOATS, HEIFERS & CHICKENS! If you need assistance finding a livestock project, let Mrs. Martin know! kmartin@mgisd.net

Northeast Texas Livestock Association Show - February 27-29, 2020


NETLA Entry Forms are available on the Miller Grove FFA website.

**Quality Counts**

**REMINDER** If you are going to show a livestock project at any major show or NETLA, you must have an up-to-date Quality Counts number PRIOR to turning in entries and/or tag-in.


If your child completed QC last year, but has moved up a division in grade (Junior grade 3-5, Intermediate (grade 6-8) and Senior (grade 9-12), they will need to renew their QC number. I can't pull kids out of class to complete this, but they are welcome to come in before/after school and lunch (grades 6-12) to work on it.

Broilers

If you want to order broilers (chickens) for San Antonio Stock Show, Houston Livestock Show and/or Rodeo Austin, have your child pick up an order form from Mrs. Martin. Orders are due Friday, September 20th. **THIS IS NOT FOR NETLA/HOPKINS CO SHOW**


NETLA Broiler Orders Due Friday, November 22, 2019. Tentative NETLA broiler pick-up date scheduled for January 16, 2020. More information coming soon.

Swine

If you want to show swine at the spring major shows (Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Austin), you must order tags by Friday, September 20th. Tags are $15.00 each. **THIS IS NOT FOR NETLA/HOPKINS CO SHOW**

NETLA Validation Dates

**DATE CHANGE** NETLA Steer & NETLA/State Heifer Validation is Monday, OCTOBER 14th @ 6-7 pm at Cattlemens Vet Clinic. This will be COUNTY ONLY steers and STATE/COUNTY heifers.


NETLA/State Lamb & Goat Validation is Thursday, October 24th @ 5:30 pm at the Civic Center.


Please contact me at least 1 week in advance if you need transportation to validations.

Dairy Show

At the September NETLA meeting, they talked about that there will be some changes coming to the Hopkins Co. Dairy Show in June. They are looking at possibly going to a futurity style show. I will let you know as soon as I know specifics.
