Dear Winter Park Band families,


Congratulations to Mrs. Bitters, Mr. Parrish, and the students of Park Philharmonic for their Pre-MPA concert this past Thursday! Park Phil will next perform at FOA Orchestra MPA on Wednesday, March 8 at East River HS.


Congratulations on a continued successful season to the WPHS Winter Guard! They performed at Freedom HS on Saturday, February 25. They will spend the next two weeks getting ready to perform at FFCC University HS on Saturday, March 11 before making their final push to FFCC Championships on March 24. Great job and keep up the good work!


It's a performance week for Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony! The itinerary for CONCERT MPA is attached to this email and can also be found here. Wind Symphony performs on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 PM. Concert Band and Symphonic Band perform on Friday, March 3. All Concert MPA performances take place at East River HS. Please consider chaperoning these awesome students for their performances. If you have never been to a Concert MPA before, it is a very cool thing to see in person and you really get to see your student(s) perform in multiple ways both on stage and during sight reading.


Concerning this week's school day SAT for Juniors, all three band classes will still have rehearsal on Wednesday, March 1. Symphonic Band will be missing Juniors as they will be testing during 2nd period. Both Wind Symphony and Concert Band class meet after the test concludes, so all students are expected to be in attendance as it is the day before or two days before a performance, respectively. It takes all of us to finish preparations for a successful performance!


Auditions for this year's Senior Concerto Competition will take place after school on Thursday, March 9. Seniors: please sign up on the sheet outside the Band office before the end of this week. The panel for this year will be:

  • Mr. Smith

2023-2024 Wind Symphony Auditions

Audition materials for Wind Symphony Audiditons are now posted on the Band website at www.winterparkhsband.com/auditions.


Audition Requirements

Brass / Woodwind:

  • Chromatic Scale, both ascending and descending, in the range indicated on your Prepared Etude sheet.
  • Prepared Etudes – available on the WPHS Band website at www.winterparkhsband.com/auditions and/or from your director.
  • A short Sight-Reading excerpt.


Percussion:

  • Mallet Etude, Timpani Etude, and Snare Drum Etude – available on the WPHS Band website at www.winterparkhsband.com/auditions and/or from your director.
  • A short Sight-Reading excerpt on snare drum and mallet.

    To access Cut Time, follow these steps.

    • Go to CutTime.net and click “SIGN IN” in the top right-hand corner.
    • Enter your Username or Email and Password You are now on your profile, where you can access our calendar and handouts and files. Click “Update Info” tab to input or update contact information. Don’t forget to click “Update” when you are finished.
    • Click the “Finances” tab to view financial statements.
