History of Cricket In India
Cricket is the unofficial game of India. The first game was played in the 1720's by a group of bored sailors. Although it is the most popular sport and pastime of India it was not created there. Cricket was created in a farming village in England. The first organized play of the game in India was by the Oriental Cricket Club in the Parasi Community in 1848. The Cricket Club of Mumbai really got the popularity of Cricket up in India.The first official cricket match was played between Parsis and Europeans in 1877 AD. around this time the Indian Cricket world really took off. One thing that really helped Cricket take off was that Sir Ranjitisinhji and Sir Duleepsinhji to Indian men started playing cricket for England teams in the early 1900's. Being so influential it the growth of cricket in India there were two trophies named after them. India became the sixth member of the elite club alongside England, Australia, South Africa, the West Indies and New Zealand in June 1932. During matches with England the crowd would be numbered close to 25,000! Including the King of England who at that time was also the Emperor of India. It took until 1952 for India to get its first ever test victory. In that match India beat England by an inning. Today cricket is known and played all over the country.

India and Pakistan Rivalry
In 1952 India created a gigantic sporting rivalry with their new neighbors Pakistan to see who was the best on the Indian Sub-Continent. being newly separated and being rivaled in the sporting world and religion they went to war. In 1960 India and Pakistan went to war. When they went to war all games were suspended. this was the first of many suspensions between the two countries to come. In the in 1970's the two countries used the games as a time to discuss diplomacy.

Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the most decorated Indian cricket player ever. Sachin holds many records including, most appearances in both Tests and ODIs, most runs in both Tests and ODIs and most centuries in Tests and ODIs. In 1994 he won the Arjuna award. Sachin was one of 5 players selected as Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1997, 2010, and 2012. In 1997/98 he won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna India's highest sporting honor. Sachin has won many civilian awards. In 2010 he was the Cricketer of the Year, that year he also won LG Peoples Choice Award. Sachin has been named one of Asia's hero's He was in time magazines 100 most influential people and their list of top 10 best sporting moments. Tendulkar has been voted sportsman of the year and also was named sports icon of the year for 21 years. He made is team India debut when he was only 16! In that game he played Pakistan. Sachin holds many records and will always remembered as one of Crickets greatest players and, as one of India's most influential icons.
