Martin Luther King Jr.
Early Life
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born to the family of Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. King Jr. was a middle child. He had one older sister and a younger brother. Even as a young child, King realized that American society was unequal, and required reform.
March on Washington
MLK's most memorable moment as an activist was his march on Washington DC. At D.C, King gave his well known speech, "I have a Dream". This speech and several other events was the spearhead of the Civil Rights Movement.
Death and Legacy
On April 4th 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was shot by James Earl Ray. Martin Luther's death spurred race riots all across the US. Because of his contribution to the Civil Rights Movement. King is accredited for convincing Congress to pass several laws on Civil Rights.
Malcolm X

Malcolm Little was born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha Nebraska. From a young childhood saw firsthand how unfair American society was.
Career
Malcolm X's career represented the pain and anger the African Americans harbored for years.
Death and Legacy
Malcolm X was killed by 3 members of his own organization. Malcolm influenced young African Americans in their pursuit of equality.
