Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Dear Cape Elementary Families,
As we move from Thanksgiving into the winter holidays, we want to, once again, express our gratitude for our amazing staff, outstanding students and excellent parents. How honored, thankful and privileged we are to be part of the Cape family! Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends.
We serve breakfast to over 300 students each day from 7:20 to 7:45. Our goal is to close breakfast at 7:45, so learning can begin promptly at 7:55; however, if we have late buses or a long line at Parent Drop-Off, breakfast will remain open until those students are through the breakfast line.
We love our Spirit Days each Friday. Our students look awesome in their Cape t-shirts. Shirts may be purchased by sending in $13 cash or check (made payable to Cape Elementary) to your child’s teacher.
We appreciate our families who are returning overdue library books and returning chromebooks not being used. As of today we still have over 300 missing library books and 200 chromebooks checked out to our Face to Face students. Thanks for taking time after the holiday season to look for these items.
Cape Elementary will start the required Health Education instruction in the middle of the third quarter. This will give us time to train our teachers, review the curriculum and share with parents. Please look for communication in January and for more information attend our February PTO/SAC meeting. We will start the Safer, Smarter Kids Curriculum in December which talks about tattling versus reporting, bullying, safe use of a cell phone, guiding voice and cyberbullying.
We continue to be honored with the privilege of being the leaders at Cape Elementary. Please call, email or set up a meeting to chat with us if you ever have a question or concern. We love hearing from parents! Thank you for your support, for your understanding and for allowing us to teach your children. They are simply the best, and they are the reason we love what we do! Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

School Social Worker's Corner!
Unfortunately, chronic absenteeism is common, and nearly 14% of school age children in the United States are chronically absent. Students who are chronically absent miss critical learning opportunities. Students may experience absences due to the following reasons:
- Special healthcare needs or poor health.
- Mental health difficulties such as anxiety or depression that causes school avoidance.
- Community or home environment challenges (housing displacement, food insecurity, essential needs etc.)
Please know that if your child is experiencing attendance issues or other needs you can contact your School Social Worker at (239) 542-3551 or (239) 281-3815.
Thank you,
Erin Dalla Costa, MA
