Schedule Change - Hour of Code 2015
HCMS will once again host a school-wide "Hour of Code" - watch the principal's email for details - on Thursday, December 10th.
Because Ms. Hanna will once again be assisting with this, 6th grade classes will move to Wednesday, December 9th.
Last year's event was a huge success, with hundreds of students participating. We hope this year's turnout is just as strong.
6th Grade GT Field Trip
On Thursday, January 7, 2016, our 6th grade GT students will be visiting the University of Texas for a fascinating Chemistry Circus demonstration. This experience will be a great opportunity for the kids to explore this exciting field of science!
We will leave Hill Country Middle School by school bus at 9:00 A.M. and return by 1:30 P.M. Students are responsible for all work missed in 1st – 5th periods that day.
Weather permitting, we will walk from the chemistry building to Dobie Mall. Students should wear appropriate foot and outer wear for the weather that day.
Cost for the bus will be $5.00 per student. Please send either cash or check payable to HCMS with the permission slip. Students will receive permission slips in class Thursday. Some of the options include:
Oma's Kitchen (Korean)
In the past, this trip has been very popular with parents. Unfortunately, we will not have room on the bus this trip. Mrs. Nookala and Ms. Hanna will ride the bus with students. Parents are welcome to join us at UT to watch the presentation and/or join us for lunch at Dobie. UT students will not yet have begun classes on January 7th, so parking may not be as much of an issue.
TEDxYouth@Austin 2016
Each year a theme guides the work of the TEDxYouth@Austin team, and this year they will explore all the meanings of Full Circle — connecting big ideas across time, geography, generation and discipline — often in surprising ways.
To learn more, you can visit the TEDxYouth@Austin site.
This year's event is Saturday, February 13th, from 1:00 - 5:00 at Westlake High School. As always, this event is free to attend. There are a limited number of spots for both students and adults, so register now.
