Growth
Hello March ... let spring begin!
And, along with spring, comes a time of growth and renewal, both in nature and at East! As many of you will remember, our students completed mid-year assessments in January. The scores from those assessments were reviewed in late January / early February and the growth our students were able to demonstrate was very encouraging! Students in each grade were able to show growth on the mid-year assessments as compared to their beginning of year performance. We are so proud of their growth and excited to see all they will accomplish during the second semester!
Second quarter report cards were sent home a few weeks ago and I am hoping you all had the opportunity to review them with your child to note their accomplishments and opportunities for continued growth. You will soon have another chance to review your child's progress at their Student Led Conference! Additional details for this event are included below.
If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's performance at school, please reach out to their teacher by phone, email or Class Dojo. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure your child is able to achieve their highest personal and academic potential this year!

Seuss Spirit Days
In recognition of “Read Across America” and Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we would like our East Albemarle Bullpups to participate in “Seuss Days”. Students may choose to dress up daily (February 28 - March 4) according to that day's theme. The themes are listed above. We ask that students continue to adhere to the SCS dress code policy during this most festive time.
We are looking forward to a Seussical week!
Student Led Conferences
This is an awesome opportunity for your child to demonstrate their leadership skills as they share their ability to complete grade level reading and math tasks and reflect on academic progress. They will prepare ahead of time so you won't want to miss this opportunity to work with them as they will certainly be disappointed!
Students who attend the conference with a family member will earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win fun prizes including a new bike, games, gift cards and more! Look for the parent letter on March 8th and sign up for your conference time as soon as possible!
Art with Mr. Accornero
Free hand drawing, painting stylized suns, and dream catchers … it has been a fun week in Art with Mr. Accornero! Our learners, particularly those who are more visual, enjoyed making connections to the core reading and math content with fun and engaging art lessons! Take a look at the great things our artists created this week!
