Ready, Set, SYMBALOO!
Understanding and setting up an Internet bookmarking page
Introduction
This will be a great project to assign as a project for students to complete. They may gather a variety of Online resources and set up a Symbaloo as one of the requirements for a project. Then the students may share the Symbaloo with the teacher and student colleagues. This will also be another great project to encourage students to use technology with the new Surface 3 devices. The use of this great Online resource will encourage the students to be more organized and to save more time for other projects. Enjoy!
Creating a Symbaloo
Please see the two videos embedded below. They are great resources to share with students. The videos will show the students how easy it is to set up a Symbaloo.

Symbaloo automatically adds webmixes.
You may easily delete tiles or webmixes that are not needed.
Click on: Delete webmix
This will remove a webmix.
Step 3:
To create an original webmix from scratch, click on the blue plus sign to the right of the webmix tabs. A blank webmix titled new Desktop! will appear.
Name the webmix by clicking on the Edit Webmix button, then Rename Webmix.
Change the wallpaper of the webmix by clicking on: Edit Webmix.
Next, click on: Change Wallpaper.
Step 4:
To add tiles to a webmix, there are two options.
Option 1: Add a Public Tile
Option 2: Add Creating a Tile
To Add a tile, click on one of the blank tiles in the webmix.
Type in the search box to see if the tile already exsists.
If so, click on the tile and it will appear in the webmix.
To Create Your Own Tile, a pop-up box will appear.
Next, type the URL and customize the tile.
Personalize and edit all tiles by right clicking on the them and selecting Edit.
Step 5:
Tiles are not limited to web sites. They can also be links to embedded files, such as a
YouTube video.
To accomplish this, find a YouTube video, click Share and copy the embed code.
Then in Symbaloo, click on an empty tile and select Click Here to create your own tile.
Select Embedded from the drop-down menu, paste the embed code into the box
where you put the web address, and continue to create your own tile.
Step 6:
To share your webmix, click on Share (top right corner of the webmix). This will allow a person to share the Symbaloo with students and teachers. Have fun with Symbaloo!
