iPads (Gr K-4)

On Monday (8/23), all kindergarten through fourth-grade students will be taking iPads home. Please ensure that they are charged nightly and brought to school daily. These devices provide students access to valuable learning tools from both school and home, such as Lexia, iReady, IXL, Sora, and more.

Please help your child take good care of their device. One of our mantras at school is to take good care of people and things. You can assist your child in learning this important life skill by accentuating the following:

  • No food or drink next to the device
  • Ensure power cords are carefully inserted and do not pose a tripping hazard
  • Do not add stickers or labels to the device
  • Do not remove labels from the device
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the device
  • Transport and open (if applicable) devices with care
  • Never leave the device in a hot car

Students would also benefit from watching our video, Taking Care of Your Chromebook/iPad.

Athletics (Gr 5-8)

Our football and volleyball season for 5th-8th grades begins this Tuesday (8/24). Try-outs will be held from 3:15-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. To participate, students need to bring a signed Permission Slip and have completed the online GLC Athletic Clearance Form. (Click HERE for Spanish.) Permission slips were also passed out to students and are available in the office. Permission slips must be received before a student may attend try-outs.

Water Bottles

Thank you for sending your child to school each day with a water bottle! Due to current health restrictions, our water fountains are unavailable. However, each class has a sink and access to water for students to keep water bottles full. Please also label your child's water bottle, so we know who it belongs to in case it gets misplaced.

Drop-off and Pick-up

The safety of our students is paramount! During drop-off and pick-ups, children will not be excused to cross the street on their own except in the crosswalk area. If you park opposite our loading zone areas, you must exit the car and chaperone your children across the driveway and/or street.

Thank you for honoring our loading zone! Families and students are getting better every day at driving all the way forward to the loading zone before entering and exiting cars. This procedure not only keeps students safe, but also keeps the line of cars moving forward more quickly.

Save the Date!

Back-to-School Night is Thursday, September 2, between 5:30-7:00 p.m. Due to current health restrictions, Back-to-School Night will be a virtual event this year. Each teacher will offer three sessions (5:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.) for families to attend. One of these sessions will be in Spanish. Teachers will share important information regarding class schedules, school expectations, homework, communication tools, and more! Please plan on attending sessions for your child's homeroom teacher, as well as specialist teachers, such as Spanish, Art/Science (gr K-2), and Learning Center (if applicable).
