Sneak Peek~Updated
2T Edison School * August 19, 2015* Mrs. Tallman
Welcome to Second Grade
At the beginning of each week you will receive a "Sneak Peek" to keep you in the loop with what is happening in our class. Its sole purpose is to keep our Second Grade families informed about the daily happenings in Room 5! I suggest that you read the Sneak Peek with your child each week; this will help you to extend the "school" conversations you have at home. Generally, the Sneak Peek includes information regarding the subjects we are learning about, classroom news and school-wide information. I will email the Sneak Peek each week, if you prefer a hard copy please let me know and I will send one home on Mondays.
Join me in giving a warm Edsion welcome to a new student, Aryhanna Applegate and her family,we now have 22 students in our class!
General Information
Your child will receive an Agenda Book on the first day of school. Be sure to read and sign it each evening . All assignments will be written in the book by your child. This is also one way that you can communicate with me. I sign the Agenda Book each day, so if you have a short note or comment I will see it and respond as necessary. Please be sure your child returns his/her Agenda Book each day. This is a great spot for you to write any reminders to your child too, many parents write where their child will go after school each day in the Agenda as a reminder for their student.
Home Folders:
A Home Folder will be sent home daily. Please look inside the folder each night and remove papers as necessary. Also, return any papers as needed. Please make sure that your child returns their Home Folder each day.
Reading Logs:
Reading Logs will be sent home daily starting in September. Students are responsible to read 15-20 minutes each night and to record their work in a Reading Log. Your child may read a book from school or home. I check the Logs daily, so if you have any questions or comments please write them on the Log and I will respond accordingly. Return the Reading Logs each day. Later in the year, your child will also receive a weekly Home Reading Response Log (HRL). Look for both the Log and the Response Notebook to come home in September.
Birthday Celebrations!
In order to comply with district polices, birthday treats or snacks are not permitted. Here are some ideas to celebrate your Second Grader’s birthday in Room 5: bring in pencils, stickers or small favors to share, donate a book to the classroom library in your child’s name, share a favorite book from home and read aloud to the class.
Listen Up!
Please have your child bring in a pair of headphones or ear buds to keep at school for listening on the computer/iPad. Label them and place them in a labeled zip-lock baggie or storage container. They will be returned in June.
Snacks and Water Bottles:
Please bring a labeled water bottle to school each day (our classroom gets very hot). On half days, your child may bring a small, healthy snack to enjoy in class. Please only send water to drink in the classroom, other drinks can be sticky and messy.
Helpful Hint: *Label anything that your child wears or brings to school with their name!*
Contact Information:
If at any time during the school year you need to contact me, you may either: call the main office at 869-7715, email me at htallman@haddontwpschools.com or send a note in your child’s Agenda or Home Folder.
