Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This week’s quote is brought to us by our “math enthusiast”/math teacher, Mrs. Mitzel.
"Teachers teach more by who they are rather than by what they say"
This quote aligns perfectly with a word of emphasis this year, modeling. We began this school year with a focus on modeling the behaviors we want to see in our Senator students. We model in the way we interact with each other, sharing our passion for learning, or by using cell phones appropriately. So many of us grew up hearing, “do as I say, not as I do” but then we all became adults and realized that the key is not telling kids what to do, but demonstrating with our own actions.
The quote says “teachers” but O’Neill is a wonderful community and we believe that our Senator community knows we are all our students’ teachers. We teach our Senators academics with some life lessons at school, but parents/guardians will always be our students' greatest teachers. Our Senators are always watching and learning from all of us. A core value at O’Neill is building a strong relationship between our families and our staff because our students learn best when there is a supportive and collaborative relationship between home and school.
Earlier this week, we sent an email regarding behavior expectations in an effort to continue building the relationship and partnership with home. Thank you all for speaking with your Senators and we are excited to see everyone at Parent-Teacher Conferences this week!
As always, if you have any additional questions you are welcome to call the main office (630) 719-5815 between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday - Friday.
Have a great weekend!
