Valle Verde Elementary Reopening Update
Good Morning Valle Verde Community,
I hope you have read the Friday Letter from our Superintendent, Dr. Adam Clark. It provides a lot of details on our next steps in the reopening plan, as well as resources that are essential to opening with success. At our site the following steps have been taken for reopening:
- Classrooms are set up for physical distancing and space for the teacher to move around
- All rooms have hand sanitizer available
- Sinks are available in each room with soap and paper towels
- All windows are functioning in each of our classrooms
- Plexiglass dividers are placed in each room on the teacher’s desk
- Cleaning disinfectant and PPE is available for check out to teachers through the front office (including student disposable/cloth masks, non-contact thermometers and face shields)
- We have a health room for isolation
- Stickers have been placed on the exterior doors of restroom stalls that are inoperable due to Covid
- Water fountains have been turned off or there is a cover over them in the classrooms and on the playground
- A digital and hardcopy sign in with health attestation for staff is available in the office
- 6 feet physical distancing dots are painted around the campus and on the blacktop
- Arrows are painted providing direction for the walkway traffic
- Physical distancing signs are painted on the ground
- Mask signs and social distancing signs are posted outside of each classroom, as well as in the interior of the pods
As we anticipate the reopening of our school, there are many questions about staffing and student support. Our goal is to make sure that our students’ academic and social-emotional needs are met. Currently, teachers can meet one-to-one with students on a voluntary basis, but we're able to provide support in a limited capacity. Please refer to the Memorandum of Understanding on our district website for more details. It can be found under the reopening plan information. Additionally, there is information about the small group support hubs for our students. Students will attend the small group support hubs based on recommendations through our CARE Team/student support process and teacher input. There is a possibilty that SGSH will begin once we are in the red tier for 14 days, but keep in mind, things are constantly changing and the goal is to have our students back on campus in some capacity, including the hybrid model. In order to make that happen, we need your input. A survey was sent via email on Saturday to gain insight on your plans to return on a hybrid schedule or remain on distance learning 100%. You must register to complete the survey sent to you. If you did not receive a survey, we will post it to our school website and hard copies will be available in the office this week. We are working diligently to meet the needs of our families. This year has not been easy, but we are a team so we will continue to work together for the best outcomes. Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. Thank you.
